Why? Why Do I Have To Have Drama?

Post by Simon St James »

Simon sat on Circe Island, trying to see if he could skim rocks on the whitecaps from the top of the waterfall. He'd found the pool and waterfall the same day that he, Annie, and Angel had met here to talk, then go out for seafood ala Lusca. It was a pleasant spot, and it was something of a turning point place for him. Today, he would try to sort his dramas out, and then make a plan of attack.

The wind off of the ocean was quite pleasant, combined with the warmth of the day. Seagulls seemed to hover down below, picking at the remains of a fish, when not suspended in the air. The rythmic white noise of the waves was almost hypnotic to the point of being a lullaby, if one wasn't careful. As he thought of things, he smiled at the thought of what his dad would say if he could call and say he had met an actual siren. His mother would be less than enthused, and would tell him to stay away from her... That thought made him laugh, as he picked up a really nice rock, and actually got it to skip 5 times.

And, what was that Angel had said about him looking like that Detective guy? That he could easily be his little brother? That was way odd. He might have to pick up his dad's search for his real parents. It all depended on if he could actually talk to this "detective."

He wanted to go back to Circe Island to think. But, Simon had to put the papers from the doctor's visit away. Then he had to go out and try to pretend to be a superhero. It seemed so fake to him. It wasn't that he wanted to do bad things, or anything like that. He just needed to get his mind settled in, with the school. But, mother nature wasn't having it. His life was changing too quickly, it seemed.

He took off his glasses, and furrowed his brow as he sat on the bench on the commons. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't escape the drama. Why? Why did there have to be drama? Why couldn't he just be a regular mutant kid, and grow up to someday have a family of his own, instead of becoming some sort od unique variable in the universe? He just wanted to have friends, and good times, and maybe to help make the world a decent place. Shaking his head, he put the glasses back on, took a deep breath and exhaled. Putting his usual smile on, he walked to his room, before heading out to fight crime.
