Dom turned waving towards Sam, checking his watch as he left, it was another one of the little things no one really noticed. The small black letters across the white face reading "Movado Calendomatic" of course here that really didn't mean anything, this was Saint Josephs in Rhode Island, a backwards little school filled with backwards students for the most part. The little things seldom mattered in a world where the guy next to you could press a semi, or the girl across could summon a hail storm right on top of you. It was late, the city for the most part was dead, all stores and shops, office buildings and residences were dark, no sign of life aside from a few municipal vehicles making their way through the streets. He took to walking towards the port, it was a few miles, but he had time at this point, 4:30 AM, still an hour and a half at least.
It seemed like a good a time as any to led his mind wander, about everything and anything. Prom it was in two day. Would he get lucky? The magic 8 ball said not likely, what a stupid brilliant invention, was it fun to use, sources point to yes, waste of money, definitely. He would remember to go buy one, then break it over Tony's bed. The conversation, well argument seemed pleasantly vivid in his head. "You Ass what the **** did you do that for?" "Why the hell do you think, talking like that in front of Kat, because now she is going to be in this huge rush to do anything" Yelling and screaming, taking out mutual frustrations on one another, healthy? Probably not.
Tony wasn't so much a bad guy, well he was, just in the good way. Culture and interested separated them quite a bit, but when it came down too it there were worse roommates he could have gotten and probably not many that would have been better. Miles was another story. The thing with him was, he was normal for here, he fit right in at not fitting in with the rest of the world. After all thats why you get sent here right? Some people had an excuse, Cait was yellow, David was red, Jess was blue, Thorn was well thorny, and Ty was Ty. He chuckled to himself at that last thought. Ty wasn't so bad, maybe like that kid brother you never wanted, the one who would run his mouth and get into trouble, but for whatever reason you would back him up against the crowd of fifteen he just pissed off, even if you weren't a tank.
Thinking about it, it wasn't really a bad group, just it wasn't his group. Back home there was Anna and Antonio, the trio, the core of the group. Always up to something, seldom anything good. Dante and Gabriella, the couple everyone hated to be around, but still hung out with, Lucas and Marcello, brothers always looking to one up each other, and always after Francesca. If he could make it back home now? With this freak gene in full bloom he would probably have to pound them. Others came and went over the years they grew up together, but even with all the travels they had been friends for a life time, well at least thats the way it seemed. With that he flipped out his phone she was number one on speed dial as he held the number down.
There was that long pause when you dial internationally, and then a ring. First ring she got it, was she up? He didn't even think what time it was before calling. Five AM here 11 AM in Rome. "Ciao! Anna, si si, niente, chiamando appena per dire..."
"Just calling to see whats up, I haven't talked to you in a while it seems like, and figured I better check in. Yeah I got your email, thanks for the pics, she looks well.. she is awake now. They woke you up?" He laughed lightly at her tone through the phone "Sorry to hear it, but yeah its great news. Yeah I will be coming home here soon to see her. I might be brining Kat with me too, so you finally get to meet her. Be nice! You keep talking like that there is no way in hell I am stopping by. " The jeering tone from the other voice laughed loud enough it could be heard. "This really isn't your concern you know, and I don't expect it to be brought up." His brow furrowed slightly at something said over the line, he wasn't sure why he got upset so quick, but he did. "Marcello? Why him, don't say that, seriously. I'm not jealous! Don't start with that you hand your chance BS either, just be careful thats all. Its.. its a tank thing. " His voice softened slightly as he spoke "Alright, I should get going too, I will talk to you later here, after prom and everything this weekend. We can talk about meeting up when I come home. Oh. Hah. Hah. Keep it up and I will tell Marcello all those little secrets, what about the beach freshman year, or oh oh, how about that club in Rome?" A girlish high pitched squeak came through the phone as he laughed. " I will talk to you later"
He grinned shaking his head as he ended the call, why did she do this to him, it was probably just to get a rise. Anna would fit right in over here, she was so backwards for a girl, a real tomboy not quite so... whatever the ones were here, one of the guys, she had the attitude, the looks, that exceptionally unexceptional appearance, but it didn't matter she could kick ass in football. Most importantly she would make things fun, he had done well not to be bored giving the surroundings, but that kind of thing isn't a one man show. Kat was, she was a great girl and fun to hang out with, but in his memory they almost had more fun before they were dating. Never a good sign, but not a reason to call it quits, recently they both had been busy, but with summer ready to be in full swing, things were likely to change and he was looking forward to it. The biggest hang up, there just seemed to be no desire for adventure when it came to her. She was content sitting in watching a movie, there were concerts, parties, events around the city, the museums, the conservatory, some clubs, camping out, rock climbing, there were some nice rides coming up. None of them really seemed to be her thing.
Getting closer to the port now he made a mental note to once over his bike, and break it back down to fit it into the trunk for next weekend with Cait. Oh, and remember to tell Kat as well why you will be gone for a day with another girl, only maybe word it different. He grinned at himself, it was funny to see just how much he could get away with here, as Sam said, when you like-like it blinds you, and it really did. There had never really been someone like Kat, hell they were up to a few months already, a new personal record, though not that he was looking to set anyway. Antonio would have a good laugh about it, being king of the "colpirlo e cessarlo" lifestyle, but then again, who knows how long that will last for him.
Walking up and down the docks now he checked his watch again, grinning as he made his way to the office, 6:15 AM and it was open now, a man inside the small room, terribly unorganized, looking just as uninterested in being there. After a brief introduction, pulling some paperwork from his back pocket the man checked it, then looked through a stack of papers to confirm. "You're in luck, they unloaded it about an hour ago, bring this stuff down to the guy in the lot, and show him your ID, and you will be good to go. "
He walked with a bit of speed and excitement, ready to see it for the first time, he had lived on the website the past month, checked over it, every detail at least twice a day, a few people knew it was on the way but he had managed to keep it a surprise to Kat until tonight. Hopefully she would like it, it wasn't really for her, but still the sentiment was there. With a wide grin on his face no forgetting all about a complete lack of sleep he made his way to the lot that was mentioned, ready to see the surprise that awaited.

Re: Surprises
There it was, his eyes widened as he smiled bright jogging up to it. It looked better in person when you could see all the angles and curves of it, his hand immediately went over the glossy finish tracing a line up over one of the curves. Finally settling on the emblem, a red gross on the right, a green serpent on the left. The metal was cool in the morning air as the sun had yet to warm anything, though it was light now. He made his first trip around it, seeing it from all angles, it was... different, like nothing you saw here in the states. The design was much more Italian, there was a certain flair about it, in truth just standing next to it made his heart race. The dark ash color seemed to fit him, no reds or blues or yellows, it was reasonable in that respect, he was never one to be overly flashy in that sense, allowing the package to speak for itself.
He had been lost staring at it, making circles around it peering inside, like he was window shopping for something he would never have. It wasn't until the sound of a throat clearing behind him caused him to turn around, standing up from looking at the air intakes to see just what was wanted. There was a man, dressed in a dull blue jacket and jeans, a face older than he probably was after spending the better part of a life time at this job. At first he had that same uninterested look as the man before, but as Dom reaches pulling out the paperwork his expression lightened. "So this is yours?" Dom grinned sheepishly, this nice of a car, chances are this guy had a wife and kids at home driving some beat old POS that was good enough to get around in. He stood up straight and nodded "Yeah, it is, my dads, well things are really looking up and I am going to take over the payments for it here, in addition to having it shipped over" There was an air of responsibly in his voice as h, e stood proud, not just getting a free ride. The other man saw it immediately and nodded back.
"Back when I was your age, I had a 65 mustang fastback, sweetest thing on four wheels the world around." The older man gave a crooked smile, almost as if he was looking in a mirror at himself Dom smiled back. "She is nice, the lines are a bit different, you don't see much like that around here, a real one of a kind" He nodded along speaking to Dom, looking between the car and the paper work finally looking back to give him the quick once over checking it against the photo ID. "So what does she run?"
Dom looked the car, then back to the man standing in front of him, seeing a yellow envelope in his hand, a slight bulge in it, knowing just what it was. He grinned wide accepting it, reaching through the paperwork to fish the key out, as he unlocked it the xenon lights flashed once. The interior was... it was amazing, but he didn't want to be rude to the question that was asked reaching to pop the hood. He knew where everything was already, spending the last month reading everything there was to know about the car, he could have rambled off specs for the next hour, but it was something you had to see. There was an almost crisp sound as the seal around the hood broke, as he quickly ran back around lifting it up. The man standing there, one arm across his chest the other propped on his chin all the while a subtle grin, perhaps seeing a bit of himself, reliving memories from his past of a similar occasion.
There it was, still perfectly new, the red back with white letters Alpha Romeo in a familiar text. Again his hand traced, feeling the raised letters causing him to grin wider, as he mouth moved without even thinking about it. "Its the three point two liter V six. On this one they lengthened the stroke 78 millimeters." The older man spoke up with a question "Do you know what that means? The increase in length" Barely looked at him Dom replied "Yeah they weren't just looking for an outright increase in power and torque peak, but at lower speeds, you get a gradual, even power delivery. " The man smiled bright as he leaned in looking the masterwork of Italian engineering "You really know your stuff"
That sense of pride came back, as they went over the specs then man seeming to enjoy just having a conversation break up the monotony of his day, but was able to match knowledge on the subject matter. They eventually made it past the hood finally closing it up, walking back to the interior. "See now that is the big difference with ones like this" the man spoke up "Its nice, but almost too comfortable, but it is a hellva nice car you got there" Dom was busy running his hands over the the material on the steering wheel adjusting the seat just right for him. He looked to the passenger seat, plenty of room for Kat, but where wasn't there plenty of room for her, across the back you could stuff three adults or probably get two comfortably. A wide grin crept across his face, this was the in to so many things, did anyone else he knew even have a car? It wasn't that uncommon for kids in America to get one on their sixteenth, then again, half of them here could fly.
He climbed back out, both of them standing up straight as he was motioned over to a make shift desk to sign a few things, after a few minutes checking and rechecking the man looked up "Well, its yours then" Dom got a wide grin again " Just pull it out through there, make a left and go all the way to the end, you will see where you can leave the lot." Dom nodded jogging back to the car ready to start it up unable to fight the smile on his face. "Have a good on there" the man called, Dom retorted "Yeah you too, take it easy"
With that he slid into the car closing the doors, moments later it started the sound of it, it was quiet, but as he tapped the petal, the sound coming through the front was nothing short of an amazing thrill. The man watched from the side, arms crossed, giving a small waves as he slowly shifted it into first gear drifting off. He wanted so badly to just open it up right there, but there was supposed to be a long stretch leading out of the docks. Checking both ways he grinned, toying with the pedal beneath his feet, living for that deep sound the engine would put out. One hand on the wheel, the other on the stick, what followed was him being forced back into the seat as the car tore off, frantically though with a bit of skill he found his way through the six speeds, the engine letting out a high pitched wail before it would fall again, rising its way back up, as the speedometer continued to climb. Ninety, in no time, it was how fast he could run, though the thrill here was so much greater. It had to be a guy thing, feeling the car wrap around you sinking into the seat, pushing it harder until it reached its peak, shifting allowing it to fall only to bring it back there again. There was no real mystery in where it came from.
He blurred down the stretch, the man watching with a wide smile at the next generation, not too much different from the last.
