Yuki sits at her desk in English Lit class reading like most of the other students are. She chews on her pen while engrossed in the assigned work of fiction. There's a quiet roar of conversation coming from the back of the class room.
A small tapping knock announces someone’s arrival at the door.
The teacher eyeing the students talking in the back turns and looks at the door. She walks over and opens it. She whispers to the visitor just out side out of view and closes the door softly. She holds a folded note and walks over to Yuki's desk.
"You can take care of this after class Yuki." She says as she hands Yuki the note.
"Oh, ok thank you." Yuki replies as she looks up from the book.
Yuki give her teacher a smile and returns back to her studies.
The bell rings and everyone gets up with a calamity as they gather their belongings and beak the silence with unyielding conversations. Yuki says nothing and puts her book in a satchel with her notes and leaves the room clutching her bag to her chest.
She walks down the hall and turns into the administrations offices just as the next bell rings. Yuki looks up at the sounds and quickly returns her head to the ground and continues to the front desk. She hands the note to the student manning the receptionist’s desk.
"Ok Yuki, Mr. Conrads will be out in a moment." The perky student announces.
"Oh, ok" Yuki nods and takes a seat.
Yuki thinks to her self and remembers the last time she sat here. Same hard metal chair. Some how isn't so uncomfortable this time. She holds her hands together on her knees. And patently waits.
"Good after noon Ms. Ookami." The soft toned man greets her.
"Comin' comin'." Mr. Conrads bacons her as he leans out of his office.
Yuki nods and quickly stands and follows him into his room. He points his hand toward a plush seat and sits down at his own. As Yuki sits down and places her satchel next to her feet. Mr. Conrads asks, "How have you been? I was hoping you would have made an appointment sooner. Yuki looks up at his desk but not his face.
"I'm sorry."
"It’s all right Ms. Ookami." He takes a mental note of her demeanor. "Well, I decided it was high time I had you visit me so we can talk." He continues, "Since our last meeting I see you have taken some of my advice."
Yuki nods with out a word still not looking at him.
Conrads pauses, "Your grades have improved greatly and I see here you have joined the Drama Club. That’s very good."
Yuki nods again.
Mr. Conrads tilts his head slightly and raises an eyebrow. He slides over a sheet of paper and scans it. "I also see you vanished from the campus for almost three weeks. The resident assistant reported you missing after you missed classes and check in the next day. Would you like to talk about what happen?"
Yuki turns her attention to the floor and shakes her head no.
Mr. Conrads leans into his desk with concern. "Yuki, I want you to know if there is anything you ever need to talk about I'm a good listener." He pauses. "Your teachers and your friends are concerned about you. Sometimes talking about it makes it feel a little better."
Yuki folds her arms as hair falls into her face. "Thank you Mr. Conrads." She replies with the smallest of voices.
He studies Yuki for a moment and decides not to push any farther and leans back in his seat. "Ms. Yuki the reason I called you into my office today’s is because I wanted to talk to you about your activities."
Yuki starts to look up.
"Like I said I've seen you invested your self into your studies and clubs. I'm very happy you’re taking more attention to school." His says as he opens a drawer to his desk "As you know your tuition was paid for in full form an anonymous donor."
Yuki grins to her self knowing now who that donor is.
"As a reward for your recent interest in school. I have talked it over with the finance department and convinced them to give you an allowance. I have set up an account for you and made funds available to it." He pulls a folder out of the drawer and opens it. "Now I want you to understand this is just for school supplies and supplies for your activities in school. I will be monitoring this account to make sure I don't see any purchases that shouldn’t be there. No dinners at Pocket D." Conrads smiles and pulls out of the folder and First Bank of Paragon credit card. "If there's anything you need for classes or you club the money will be there."
Yuki for the first time looks up and shows her full face. She has a bewildered look open her.
"Just don't make me regret this ok?" Mr. Conrads gives a warm smile.
Yuki stands up, "Th-Thank you" She has no idea what to say.
Mr. Conrads hands Yuki the card and the paper work for the card. "Remember; if you ever need to talk about anything please come see me."
Yuki takes the card and papers and quickly bows. "Thank you sir. I will. Thank you."
"Ok Ms. Ookami, your next class is waiting. Thank you for coming." He raises his hand towards the door.
Yuki bows again and backs up to the door. She nods on last time before exiting. Mr. Conrads sits back down and thinks to him self. Yuki opens the door again and sneaks in.
"Sorry sir, I forgot my bag." Yuki red in the face takes her satchel and races out the door again.
Stops outside and stares at the card. She gets a crooked grin on her face and says to her self. "And this is how Drama Club will be paid for." She pulls out her phone and quickly presses a few bottens.
"Hi, it's me."
"Yeah."
"No everythings fine..."
"Hey, I have a question."
"Feel like going shopping?"
A welcome suprise for Yuki
