When it all started (this is a tad bit dark and graphic)

Mieri sat in the chapel it was early Friday morning the sun had just come up, Dom sat beside her as she rested her head on her knees. Thursday had been such a rough day for her. She wondered if the boy she didn’t know so well knew what he had done, was he aware of the shattered wreck he had left behind. Dom had been such a gentleman sitting up with her waiting for Ms. Atwood to open up her office so that she could go speak to her. Mieri had replayed in her head the events from that day so many times her memories were sketchy at times but she was remembering bits and pieces of it more and more each time.

It was late July and the first day of school for everyone and Mieri’s first day at her new school. She was excited no more military kaki’s and an actual real girl population. She had a private room no roommates this time and an open campus so she could have fun outside of school grounds. She had finished her run and taken a shower she was going to make it to the mass assembly about ten minutes early. She grabbed her back pack and swords swinging them over her shoulder as she locked her door and took off to the gym.

The minute she stepped outside she could see the massive jump ships that had entered the sky. She started running to the gym slightly panicked about what was going on. Mieri saw the Ritki landing down in teleports all around her but she ran as fast as she could the teachers at the gym would know what to do. Mieri burst into the gym just in time to see the first teacher that the Ritki kill land on the floor lifeless. Mieri stopped dead in her tracks she had been trained for this and all that training took over like instinct. She slipped her back pack and swords off onto the ground in front of her and pulled her swords out of there sheaths and used one of her books to break the safety guard off the end of each sword. She looked up and saw two more teachers added to the pile and a handful of kids she said a prayer to herself took a deep breath and started walking to them.

It was like a video game one would pop out to stop her and she would slice it threw stabbing and cutting leaving a trail of broken alien bodies in her wake she was moving quickly to the front of the gym where most of the dead where. There was an alien with a giant sword there who had been doing most of the killing. It was just another blade she knew how to fight them she could do this, She chanted to herself the entire way to the front. It was almost like slow motion as she got to the front and started to approach him. Low to the ground she held her body as she circled him waiting for him to attack her, it didn’t take long and he stepped into her swiping that long blade at her. She blocked and count struck nicking his shoulder but it wasn’t even superficial. Mieri was so locked in on the one alien in front of her she didn’t notice the two that where coming up behind her. She was young and even though trained in combat she didn’t expect them to be so intelligent or maybe she just didn’t think. The bladed alien swept toward her again this time forcing her back with the mere force with which he swung the weapon. Mieri stumbled and fell right into the arms of the approaching aliens who quickly over powered her and took her swords.

This is where things normally got sketchy a haze filled excuse for a memory up and until today. Today the cloud was lifted and her memories of the next few moments became clear. Mieri would have given anything in this world to forget again.

Mieri was forced down on to her knees in front of the bladed Alien who spoke a crude version of English which she understood.
“Small child you are and yet you remove so many on your way to me. You’re either very good or very dumb”, he laughed at her saying something in a mutt led language she didn’t understand. She sat kneeled on the floor her hands clenched she was so angry but at least they had stopped killing people. Mieri looked up at the Ritki she was not going to be a coward. That was when it started he lifted his hand in the air and struck her across the cheek. Her mouth filled with blood instantly and her body lay sprawled out on the floor. She was teetering on the edge of unconsciousness as she felt his hand entwine in her hair as he lifted her limp body up off the ground. He spoke to the other people in the gym the words where not comprehendible or she just wasn’t able to understand them. Then the pain started she couldn’t really understand what was happening stinging pain running down her arm. Mieri really shouldn’t have looked down at herself but it was too late the image was burned into her brain and now she was painfully aware of it. Her arm had had the better part of the skin peeled off and discarded on to the gym floor, there was blood dripping on the floor and her sword was in his hand. All of the aliens where laughing they were making her into a joke threatening the other kids. Darkness came, a quiet reprieve from the pain but it would not last. Her body shook and her eyes popped open her left arm this time she knew what had happened without looking. She should be dead she thought when will death come. I have lost too much blood and too much damage any moment it will come any moment now just be patient she started praying over and over:

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I accept from your hands whatever kind of death it may please you to send me this day with all its pains, penalties and sorrows; In reparation for all of my sins, for the souls in Purgatory, for all those who will die today and for your greater glory. Amen.

But death did not come just more pain and blood laughter her cloths where shredded and her legs cut surely it will come now she thought her lifeless body slumping into the floor of the gym. Yet somehow she was not lifeless she heard the shooting the guns blaring there was help here even if it was too late for her. Her eyes opened and she could see the red and white clothed men coming into the gym she had done it she had saved them blackness over came her.
Dom shook Mieri she had started to just stare off into space again.

“Mieri, its 8:45 you can maybe head over to Ms. Atwood now.” Dom said to her. Mieri looked at him a half blank stare on her face. “Si I think it would be good for me to go now.” Mieri's voice was so timid it wasn't like her. Dom walked with her leaving her there at the office.
