Whining & Dining (Dining Reviews By The Students)

City of Gyros by Kristina O'Sullivan

Dotting the cityscape of Paragon City are several eateries called City of Gyros. These low priced greek food houses are quite the competitors for the "Golden Arches," and add a regional ethnic flair to the dining experience for a population on the go! Run primarily by greek families, one can be guarranteed that for the most part their food will be made as close to tradition as fast food will allow for. Their facilities are, with exception, very nice and clean, and offer quite the hometown feel to any social group needing a place to unwind and meet with friends! I prefer the one in Atlas Park, but, then again, I'm biased because of recent events. On a scale of 0 to 6, I give CoG a 5.

5 of 6 stars!

El Super Mexicano!

El Super Mexicano by Misericorde

If you've been to any neighborhood in Paragon City proper, you've seen one of these. This franchise has soared in popularity in recent years, with the grinning face of El Super Mexicano beaming brightly down from the billboards that adorn each faux-adobe building! It's ubiquitous, with locations even in such Hazard Zones as the Hollows, and Dark Astoria!

Long a favorite among Paragon city residents, the food here is inexpensive, tasty, and surprisingly authentic! It's also one of the few restaurants in Paragon that offers a variety of Central American beers..and yes, they do check ID!

As a side note, El Super Mexicano, like most dining venues in Paragon, makes use of the Police Drone system, rendering these eateries some of the safest locations on the planet!

The diverse menu, affordable prices, and consistent service make this a great dining spot! If you can make your way through the crowds, that is.

5 out of 6 stars!

Hey, does anyone know of any really fancy restaurants nearby? I heard a rumor about a very exclusive underground grotto place over on the Rogue Islands, but there's no way I'm taking my date over there!

Hotel Geneva has some really nice places to eat, and there is the Infront Steakhouse, too... Plus, there are various little taverns and the sort that are fairly docile. I'd ask Cap'n Jack or Dr Conrads about which ones are date safe... Say. Do I happen to know who you're taking, Johnny? I bet I do!

Oh shoot! You think she'll read this? I shouldn't have said anything. I'm not very good at this sort of thing.

But thanks for the suggestions, Kris!

I don't think she'll think anyone's onto her and you... You two make a VERY cute couple, though! I hope she treats you right. I'd be very upset, otherwise.

Johnny! You an' Amy hookin' up? Alright, hermano! *dances the meringue around Johnny, then bumps hips with him* Wooooo! You go, gringo!

"What?...," Johnny replies, otherwise speechless at the young, attractive latina's reaction. He seems as nervous about her dancing around him as with what she's said.

I said, way. To. Go. Gringo! *laughs as she keeps dancing, then realizes a few others might be watching, then stands around, looking tough*

"Oh," the blush begins to climb up his face, "I understood what you said. I just don't know why you said it."

He looks down at his shoes as he asks, "What makes you think that Amy and I are... are..." Seemingly, he cannot finish the sentence.

'Cause of tings like dat, Juanito!

*grins*

But, hey! It's all good, you know?

((Hmmm... This may need to be turned into its own thread...))

Amy comes up behind Johnny and kisses the tip of his ear.

Face it, sweetie. They were all bound to find out about us. I don't think there is anything to be bashful about, honestly. I'm glad you are my boyfriend now. I don't care what anyone has to say about it or me.

Paula, girlfriend, you rock... <chuckle>

Amy continues to hold her arms, wrapped around Johnny's waist, smiling.

So, dinner, huh? Nice touch. Anywhere you take me will be perfect.

His eyes roll up in extasy at the feel of her soft lips on his ear.

"I know...," he begins, just a hint of sadness in his voice as he wraps his arms around hers, holding tight. Twisting in the embrace to face Amy, he looks deep into her eyes, seemingly oblivious to the other two ladies and anyone else present.

"I love you!"

((Agree with Palilla, this should probably be it's own thread if it's to continue. Amethyst, or whoever, would you take care of that if you reply? I'm such a n00b around here. I really need to learn the ins and outs of the website.))

Mulligan's: Fish & Chips, or Indigestion From The 7 Seas

Mulligan's: Fish & Chips, or Indigestion From The 7 Seas by Kristina O'Sullivan

Spending time on Striga Island is not my idea of a great time. Although there is wonderful sailing and some breath-taking sunrise and sunset locations for a romantic escape. But, while you're there, you may need to eat. What are your options?

From the mainland there's

1) Major Flanders and his 34 original herbs and spices to make any chicken feast a thing to remember.

2) CoG carryout (YUMMMM)

3) El Super Mexicano's Burrito on the go (Lookout stomache!)

4) Any number of Infront Steakhouse's new carryout menu items for under ten bucks (Cha-ching! Hope you brought either cash or a celebrity!)

5) Mulligan's

Mulligan's is a local fish and more place nestled in between the docks and the warehouses. The establishment is operated by Jimmy the Gun, a retired Paragon City cop who earned the respect of the Family way back in the day of Hill Street Blues. He runs a clean and legal establishment, and outside of Pocket D, it's one of the few places where one can dine, and the people in the next booth may either be Statesman and Sister Psyche, or Juliano and Goonie Torconne. Perhaps it's the sign that reads: "NO FIGHTING ALLOWED! Premises are kept peaceful by a private security drone!"

The menu was rather full, ranging from Shrimp Alfredo to Fish & Chips. I chose the Fish & Chips, since I had a cargo ship to keep an eye on. Surprisingly, the food was quite tastey, and served still steaming. The bathrooms were imaculate, and the overall atmosphere was very laid back. I'm surprised there wasn't a review written already! Outstanding food, great service and accomodations, and only slightly above moderate prices!

5 out of 6 stars!
