Bruno's Pizzeria

Post by Mercy Strike »

Since we're all using Bruno's as a place to hang out, eat pizza and brag about our latest conquests in the back seat of somebody else's car, I figured I'd put up the description of the place as written by the person that created it.

Bruno's is not a full serve restaurant, nor does it employ waiters. You have to shimmy up to the counter and place your order with the guy there who is often, though not always, Carmine Brutaglia. They'll call your number when your order is up.

Because of the presence on the street of some of the rougher elements in the Row, you might want to consider always going with pals.
Bruno's Pizzeria has been serving King's Row since 1947, when it was founded by war buddies Bruno Brutaglia and Rudolpho Cugliani. It has changed location many times, the last being in March of 2008, but it has never been out of the Row, and it has never been out of business for more than three months.

Rudolpho Cugliani was killed in a mob hit in 1963, and his son Salvatore sold his share in the pizzeria to Bruno. It has been an exclusive Brutaglia family business ever since. Bruno Sr. still owns the place, but is largely retired now, leaving daily operation to his sons Bruno Jr. and Anthony. Bruno Jr's second son Leon and Anthony's eldest son Carmine are being groomed as the next generation of management.

In January of 2008, a fire started by a rampaging group of Hellions largely gutted the High Park building where Bruno's had been located since the late seventies. A few months later, it was re-opened in it's current location in the Ariete Plaza, near the tunnel to Independence Port. The new place is more modern and upscale than the last, much to Bruno Sr's chagrin.

Despite sitting in the centre of Skull turf, Bruno's has never been bothered by the gang. Clusters of them can be seen hanging around near the plaza, but they never enter the establishment nor do they harrass the patrons.

While Bruno's is not the only establishment to lay claim to "the best pizza in Paragon", they certainly make a good case. They specialize in deep dish pizzas and never skimp on the toppings. They stick to a relatively small list of traditional toppings, but maintain consistently high quality. Individual slices are always available, heated and ready to serve. Panzerotto's are also available, in both large and small sizes. In the last few years, they have added chicken wings and chicken fingers to the menu, although they are considered to be of average quality. They are not currently licensed to sell alcohol, nonetheless, Brunos Jr. and Sr. can both be seen quaffing beers behind the counter whenever present.

Leon talks about expanding the operation from a pizzeria to a full-fledged Italian restaurant with a large menu, but Bruno Sr. is strongly opposed.
