The Misadventures of Pookie

Post by FrancisCross »

Hi Everyone,
This is a pleasantly brainless entertainment thread for us all to gripe about...I mean, share our personal stories about the Hloogle, Pookie.

Who and/or what is Pookie? Allow me to let Annie post an explanation about that.

Shall I go first? :(

"I was sitting at my desk in the tiny room I share in the quad with my roomates. My term paper for Sister Mary Moltar's English Literature class was due in 8 hours but I hadn't gotten past my opening paragraph much less written any kind of cohesive thesis. I was soooo gonna fail this class, but it was late, I was under-caffeinated, and I just couldn't keep my mind on task. There's just something about 17th century English Literature that doesn't do it for me but I had to get something out....I certainly don't want to take THIS class again. That's when I heard it...that weird little noise that sounds a little like *phloot* and a little like *gleet* coming from Annie's backpack. I didn't walk over to check it out...what am I? Stupid? God only knows what Annie keeps in that pack! In any case, but a few scant moments later out pops this....well....thing! It smiled at me...I think....ran over...sat on my paper...took my soda poured it down its....throat? Then it giggled at me...*phlooted*...and ran off. Of course, this is the point that I notice it has left something behind on my English paper. *ewwwww...*

Funny thing though.....Moltar gave me a B- on that paper....I guess I'm not as tempted to hide him in Jasmine's lunchbox as I was before....

I believe "Pookie" is the copyrighted name of Garfield's teddy bear, so maybe we should pick a different name?

((OOC: I did check to see if there's a copyright on the name "pookie". Luckily, it's used in so many different names, characters, and instances that the name itself doesn't have a "TM" next to it. I'd only be in trouble if he/she/it were also a teddy bear and I was writing a comic strip.

Anyway, more information on Pookie to come from me soon. In the mean time, I'd love to hear more!))

So I was all quitely stalking, er getting ready to talk to the Cheer Squad, when I went to begin a spell to make me a bit more charismatic ( I'm still gonna light them on fire), when all the sudden this little thing, strolled, waddled right up by my foot. It made an odd gurgle noise, phooted near my boot, and then he proceeded to fling it in the direction of the cheer squad and dare i say, it giggled! I started to laugh as it landed on some of them, and BARELY had enough time to teleport myself across the courtyard so they wouldnt think it was me. By the time i turned and stiffled my laughter (YES i can laugh! Im not always angry.) the little thing was gone! At first I thought it was a lil deamon familiar, but it was nothing Ive ever seen before. Could this have been the mysterious Pookie?
Know now, that I have returned.. And my God forgive your sins, because I shant.

So, whatis Pookie?

Post by Annie Dromida »

Since I've gotten a few questions about Pookie, I figured now would be the time to explain a few things about him.

I got Pookie as a birthday present when I turned flizbrit, mostly because daddy thought that I needed a friend that would always be with me when we went to a new system. Hloogles are highly prized as pets because of their low breeding rate, long life spans and empathic nature; plus the fact that their so cute! Also Hloogles have, like, the ability to live almost anywhere; it's a natural thing that has also been duplicated to make meetings between species so easy!

It was only recently that Pookie was allowed to come live with me. When I crashed outside of Paragon City, Pookie was taken to some place at the UN where he could get better and the people my dad worked with could make sure he would be OK on Earth. Pookie's still kinda shy, but has liked the food I've fed him so far and has started to wander a bit more outside of my room (yes you have you cute little scamp! <hughughug>). Other than that, what else is there to say?

Francis burst into the quad nearly red-faced from exertion.

"ANNIE!" She yelled holding up a stickly looking ball that looked somewhat like a wad of black tar.

"POOKIE ATE MY EYELINER....AGAIN!!!"

Kris sat, playing the old harpsichord in the storage room, venting her angst and misery through the instrument. It was truly amazing just how much it helped with soothing her soul. Throughout, however, the teen would slow her playing down, as she could have sworn she had heard scraping sounds, and then later, small clickety-clacks. It was enough, that finally she had to stop, and look around.

Nothing but a storage room. I wonder if there are rats in here. Wow! Rats! Maybe we could catch one, and make him into a pet? No. That would be a bit much. The chill of Stasis in the room, if she ever comes back, would probably make it sick.

Shrugging the girl went back to playing, unaware of a moving lump inside of her dufflebag. Minutes later, there was a small flash of light from within, but Kris' eyes were closed, and she was feeling the music as it flowed through her, and out of the harpsichord. Finally, the girl finnished, ad picked up the bag, the lump having grown still, and now wasn't even a lump. an hour later, she returned to campus with a near panicked look on her face. A sister stopped the apparently frightened girl, and when shown the contents of the duffle, then gave directions, after a small yelp and jump.

Kris came rushing to the door of quad #1, and collected herself before knocking. After a few moments, she took a deep breath, then looked down and scolded the bag for jostling around. Looking back up, she knocked the way she remembered the agents would knock on her mom's front door. Nice and official-like.

"Annie! Open up," she complained. "We gotta talk!"

Annie cracked open the door, a little confused because she was getting ready for bed, and none of the other girls that shared her quad were in at the moment. Cricket was off at a study group, and Francis was getting the cheer squad ready for the upcoming season. So, what greeted Kris's frantic eyes was a green, blonde-ish haired alien standing in her red flannel pajamas and brushing her teeth.

"Whawt cen I dwo fo ya, Kwis? Dhid youw whaint to gow jowgging agaiwn tomowwo?"

Kris pondered the words for a moment, then smiled a little. It had stopped being something she could be upset at. Annie, without knowing it was quite a disarming soul. Perhaps that was why her father was a diplomat.

"I found Pookie," she said a little exasperation still on her voice. "But not before Pookie found my supersuit and D-Clicker. The cape was left intact, so I guess Pookie can keep it for a blanket. *sigh* I'll just have to get a new patroling outfit, is all."

As Kris spoke, Annie's eyes seemed to actually grow a bit wider, and her toothbrush hung in her mouth.

"Pwookie!!"

Quickly, Annie tossed her toothbrush onto the low coffee table in the commons room in Quad 1, and ran back to her bathroom. A few seconds of spitting and running water, and Annie was back.

"Oh, no! Pookie, what have you done! I thought you were under my bed! You naughty little Hloogle! You were supposed to behave, you were supposed to.."

Annie then peered into the duffle bag that Kris held, and her expression went soft.

"Awwwww! He's all curled up in your cape!"

"Yeah," Kris replied, feeling guilty for feeling upset now. "If you want, Pookie can keep it as a blanket. He made some odd belching sounds on the way here. I hope he doesn't get sick from eating my suit..."

Kris offered the duffle bag containing Pookie to Annie, the purpose of it, no longer being served. She laughed a little at the scene in front of her. Annie in her pj's oohing and ahhing over her naughty pet.

"I guess you can keep the bag, too."

Annie looked up, concern once again appearing on her face.

"Uhm.... oh, gee Kris; I'm, like, totally sorry! Please, come in! I have snacks, Earth snacks! And.... and I will find a way to apologize. Yes."

Turning around, Annie left the door open as she straightened up some of the minor clutter that had built up since the last time the nuns did a room inspection. The common room was an odd eclectic of Francis's plants and statues, Cricket's eco-conservation prints, and Annie's...... OK, so nobody was still quite sure yet what most of the objects Annie had around were.

Kris stepped in and was immediately consumed with curiousity at everything within. There were plants. Odd plants. Very odd plants. As well, there were statuettes, ecologically friendly stuff, and what could only be some of Annie's extra terrestrial things.

"Wow, Annie! This room is awesome! No wonder you like it just fine where you are!"
