Noah had just begun getting himself back in the social scene. All he really wanted was just some semblence of a normal teenage life. His powers had proven to make that difficult in the past. Noah had been living on borrowed time ever since his parents were taken from him, he just wanted it to mean something.
His first night back out with the other kids from school ended up being a huge first step in the right direction. Just seeing everyone, and relaxing seemed to set him at ease. He didn't try to block out the voices, instead he just tried to ignored them, letting them fade into the backround noise.
At one point early on, that white haired kid from Bloodvine showed up. Noah had seen him before, and he was usually harassing the kids from St. Joe's. Ty and Jessiy headed upstairs for drinks, and to get away. Noah was feeling pretty fiesty, so he decided to try to pick a verbal fight with the Bloodvine kid, give the little spoiled punk a taste of his own medicine. One of the St. Joe's students that whitey was picking on said something to Noah about "being able to fight her own battles". In truth, Noah really didn't give a damn about her battles, he just didn't like the kid. Apparently they were friends, so Noah just decided to join the others upstairs, and let them have the dancefloor.
Ty and Jessiy were upstairs. Noah talked to Jess for a while. She was nice, easy to talk to, and blushed a very cute color of purple when she was embarassed. As the night pressed on, more people showed up. Noah always tried to scoot over to stay close to Jess, hoping she wouldn't think he was some kind of stalker. Noah couldn't be sure, but at one point he was certain he saw her scoot in his direction. The situation looked promising. Noah couldn't help but wonder fi she was seeing anyone. He'd be lucky to end up with a girl like Jessiy. She was fun to hang out with. Although Jessiy may not have agreed, to Noah she was beautiful, and perfect just the way she was. As the night went on, they seemed to have some chemistry.
Then came the nice awkward moment. One of the other kids named Nova, asked his girlfriend if Noah and Jess were together. Even though he tried to whisper, judging a whisper can be difficult in a club. That particular whisper reached Jess and Noah. Noah smiled and Jess smiled as her face went flush. Feeling like things really couldn't get more awkward, Noah asked her out to grab some dinner. Jessiy took off like a shot running down the stairs. Noah had been wrong...it could get more awkward. Everything worked out in the end. After Jess got over the initial shock, she accepted Noah's invitation. After Noah left D, he had to try to clean himself up a bit. He had just gotten a new haircut, so he went out to get some new clothes to try to make himself presentable. When he had finished, he looked in the mirror and almost didn't recognize himself. Maybe that was a good thing, like starting fresh. Noah decided to forget about the things he had lost, and look forward to the new possibilites.
There had been another development. Noah had heard that the football coach supressed mutant powers. His powers had been the only reason Noah quit football at his last school. This looked like it could be a second chance for him to play again, which had him excited. The next morning, Noah was walking through the school when he passed the Coach's office. The light was on, and it looked like the Coach was in. Noah placed his hand on the doorknob taking a deep breath before walking inside.

Noah knocked on the door as he stood nervous in the doorway
"Excuse me, Coach Waters?" Noah said, not sure if he was talking to the right man.
"Yea, what can I help you with?" Coach asked politely
"My name is Noah Ryder sir, and I want to try out for the team" Noah said, "I know its kinda late, but I just found out that I can play"
"Have a seat Noah" the Coach said as they both sat down, "So...you ever played before?"
"Yes sir, Free Safety was my official position, but I also played Strong Safety and sometimes Cornerback" Noah said, "I eventually had to stop playing"
"Ahh, so your a Defense guy are you?" Coach said with a smile
"Defense is where the real men play Coach" Noah said with a smile, it was obvious he had memorized that line, probably at the demand of his last Coach.
The Coach let out a laugh, "Good. So why did you stop playing in your last school?"
"My powers" Noah said looking down, "I developed psychic powers...it was just too many voices in my head"
"I see. I know that must have been tough" Coach said in a quiet tone before his voice jumped back to life, "You came to the right place Noah, you won't have that problem on this team, I can promise you that!"
"So, will I be able to try out?" Noah asked
"Yea, you can try out. I'm sure you wont have any problems" Coach said
"Thanks Coach" Noah said with a smile as he stood up shaking the Coach's hand.
"Any particular number you want?" Coach asked
"I'd like to try to get number 47 if its open" Noah said, "Oh..and uh...theres one more thing. Its like a lucky thing"
"Whats that?" Coach asked
"Instead of my name on the back of the Jersey, I just want it to say "1/3"" Noah said
"1/3?" Coach asked, "Whats that about?"
"Well sir..." Noah said with a grin, "2/3 of the Earth is covered by water, the other 1/3 is covered by me"
The coach let out a laugh as he slammed his hand on the table, "Thats the spirit!" Coach said with a smile, "I'll see what I can do"
"Thanks Coach, see ya at practice" Noah said as he left the office
((RP Note: Noah wore #47 cause is Role Model is Safety John Lynch. Noah is a pretty well rounded player, but he's a fearless tackler. He tries to make every tackle hit like a sledge hammer))

*A click is heard as a tape recorder starts to record*
"I figured I'd use this old tape recorder as a journal of sorts. With so many thoughts floating around in my head, I guess I just want to find a way to keep my own straight.
I've kept out of the social scene for a bit. I guess you could say it was a self imposed exile. but I can't stay hidden forever...as much as some might want.
Over the last week, I've been trying to reconnect with the people from school, and with myself. My buddy Ty has been a big part of that *chuckles*, the guy can be such a freakin clown...but thats a good thing. We're teenagers, we're supposed to be able to be clowns. Sometimes with everything going on, I forget that I'm supposed to be having fun.
Then there's Jessiy. Yea...the same Jessiy that apparently I was singing too when I was all hyped up on painkillers after the Biff incident. Talk about irony *laughs*. We hit it off at the club last weekend, and decided to go out on a date. We went out and had Chinese. It was fun, we just relaxed and talked about whatever came to mind. I guess if I had to sum it up in one word it would be...comfortable.
We met up at D again last night, and had a double date kinda thing with Ty and Kelly. I swear, we must have had the worst timing ever, cause everyone showed up last night. Don't get me wrong, I like the company to be sure, but it wasn't what I would have planned for a date *chuckles*.
The beginning of the night was probably the most eventful. It started with Ty and Kelly, who didn't seem entirely comfortable with each other. Kinda like one was trying to walk and one was trying to run. Now in all fairness, I fell into what I call the "arm trap" too. Where I'm from, if you like someone you hold them, y'know put your arm around them to show affection. It seems things work a tad different here. I think the arm thing is kinda like a pink slip to a car, and somehow implies ownership *laughs*. I'm just glad Jess nicely clued me in before it was too late.
So then here comes Bri and Stephen. Now Bri and I have some issues, steming from my powers. Jessiy ran off to talk with Kelly, leaving Ty and myself with Bri and Stephen. Now it took all of about 30 seconds for Bri to get on me with some snide little comment about reading peoples minds. So of course, being the tactful guy I am, I tell her to shut her trap. Ty is stunned, Stephen was probably about ready to pound me into paste, and Bri and I went at it. More kids started to show up, and it wasn't a conversation I wanted to have in a crowd. Eventually, I just went to the other side of the club to get out of their hair. Figured I should keep my distance from her...and Alex.
I suppose I felt the worst for Ty and Stephen. I mean, Ty is my friend, but he's theirs too...I think. I told him he could stay there or come with me, I just didn't want to drag him into it. It's a shame with Stephen too. I know he must have been pissed listening to me talk to her like that, and I can't blame him. Still, if someone starts running their mouth off to me, I'm gonna run mine back. I'm not just gonna stand there while someone talks smack to me, I don't care who it is. I don't expect Stephen to agree, but I hope he will at least understand.
Do I hate Bri? Absolutely not. Her reaction was pretty natural for what happened. I hate to say it, but I understand why she acts the way she does towards me. Intentional or not, I stole something from her, and its something I can never give back. I still can't help but hate the snide comments. I hate the fact that, in my eyes anyway, she sees me as some evil villain, twirling my mustache and planning a scheme to "invade" the minds of everyone I meet. Really, I'm just a kid trying to learn how to control a power that I never asked for. Just like a lot of kids here I suppose. To be fair, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not always the easiest person to know.
*A knock is heard*
Crap, someones here...to be continued"

Okay...I'm back.
Umm...okay, so anyways the thing with Bri is over now and Ty, Jess, Nova, Kierin and a slu of other kids are on the hero side hanging out. So, I steal Jess from them and we head to the VIP room for a little quiet time. Y'know just to talk and get to know each other a bit. She told me about her family, and I was like in total shock when she told me that her "Father" was a villain. It seemed like we had more in common then I thought. Her "Dad", Air Man, seems like a much more stable kinda dude.
When she asked me about myself, I told her...everything. Well, almost...everything is a lot to fit into one night *laughs*. I mean, I told her stuff that I never told anyone. I'm not sure why really. Maybe it's cause she was so easy to talk to....*sigh*....at least thats what I tell myself. Thats not really the truth though.
The truth is that most of my memories are bad ones. I have a lot of secrets, and a lot of things that I try to bury. I don't want this to be one of them. For the first time in forever, I feel like I have a chance for something good, and real, and...pure. I don't want secrets, I don't want lies. I want someone to know everything about me, good and bad, and accept me for all of it. Not just the parts they like. I want someone to know all the bad stuff I've done, and to be able to see past it and see who I am now. I don't know if Jess is that person or not, but I hope so. Either way, it's too late now. If she doesn't think I'm a complete basketcase, that will be a step in the right direction *chuckles*
When we were done talking we went back out and joined the others. The rest of the night went pretty smooth. Ty and Kelly never really seemed to get on the same level, which is a shame. After awhile, I could tell Jess was getting tired, and the sleepy lephrechaun was smacking me with his little hammer too. *chuckles* I asked Jess to walk me home to protect me from all the bad guys out there. Why not? She'd kick my ass *laughs*

It was getting late, and Noah was leaving a downtown restraunt heading back to campus. He stood outside, putting his hands in his pockets. He took a breath and puffed a couple times, watching his breath in the cold winter air. Noah started walking towards the train when he heard a voice from behind him...
"Cold night" a voice said
Noah turned and saw a man wearing a dark coat and hat. His face seemed covered by both the hat and the darkness.
"Yea, thats for sure" Noah said politely, "Stay warm man"
"Thanks, you too Noah" The man said equally polite
Noah made it about three steps before catching it. Noah stopped and turned facing the man.
"How do you know my name?" Noah asked, his tone a little less friendly
"I know a lot about you Noah" The man said as he walked up to Noah standing close to him, "I know about your powers, I know about your parents, I know about your time in the Skulls, and your brief stint in Juvi, and I know why you always wear those gloves."
"Impressive" Noah said, "I know things too...like why you have that bruise"
"What brui...*Twap*" the man started to ask before Noah hit him with a right hook, knocking him to the ground
"THAT Bruise" Noah said finishing the setup, "Now, who the hell are you?"
"I walked right into that one" The man said calmly as he stood back up, "My name is Mr. Jennings, and I'm not your enemy"
"Right, so your just a friend who dug up my secrets" Noah said seriously, "You can tell me or I can rip it out of your head, your choice"
Just as Noah was finishing his sentence, the man's fist struck him in the gut knocking the breath out of him. A second hit across Noah's jaw dropped him to the ground.
"I know you don't respond well to threats Noah" Mr Jenning's said as he composed himself, "neither do I. Now, perhaps we can talk like two civilized people?"
"...Alright" Noah said as he pushed himself back up, trying not to show that the man hit like a jackhammer, "I'm listening"
"I need your help Noah" Jenning's said, "I want you to meet me here, and I'll explain more. Trust me when I tell you that there are a lot of lives at stake here. You can turn your back on them, or you can help them"
Mr. Jennings handed Noah a small card with an address written on the back.
"It's your call" Jennings said as he turned and walked away, disapearing into the night.

Noah walked into an old warehouse in King's Row. The walls were old and worn down, and the moldy smell in the air made him gag when he first walked in. He paced up and down the hallway impatiently, waiting for Jennings to arrive.
"Glad you came" a voice rang out from down the hall, "like the place?"
"Yea....charming" Noah said with a grin, "So now I'm here, maybe you can explain why"
"Straight to the point, I like that" Jennings said, "Alright, I've been watching you for some time Noah, and I'm intrested in aquiring you for a government program"
"Your a recruiter?" Noah asked as Jennings nodded, "What kind of program?"
"Intelligence, Counter-Intell, Infiltration..." Jennings said with a smile, "...the kind of programs that don't exist"
"Sounds pretty cloak and dagger" Noah said questioningly, "You do realize that I'm in High School right...I mean...aren't there heroes for that kind of thing?"
"Well, your 17 Noah" Jennings said, "You can join the military at 17 with a little extra paperwork, given the nature of our work we're given some leeway to develop future talent. Just think of it as another "Prep School", something to get you ready for your future career."
Noah looked at Jennings, "I..."
"Listen Noah, I don't know if you noticed, but there is a war going on and it's a war for the species" Jennings said, "Now the Government does not "officially" condone the use of minors, however nothing about us is "official". We don't deny the fact that there are individuals, like yourself, who can help us."
"Alright, lets assume that you aren't crazy" Noah said quietly, "...why me?"
"Two reasons. Attitude and abilities." Jennings said, "You have the right attitude for the trade Noah. Your willing to fight and give your all to help people and make the world better. However you also show a certain, shall we say..."moral flexability" on how you do it. If you want to win a war, sometimes you have to get your hands dirty"
"Yea...I guess I got that from my dad" Noah said, "I suppose you know that though."
"Indeed." Jennings said in a serious tone, "As for your abilities. We do have other super powered people working for us, and all of which have some abilities that are useful. However your particular skillset is of particular intrest to me"
"Why is that?" Noah asked
"Well...if I could build the perfect super for this work, It would be you" Jennings said, "We always work alone, but all your powers are based on using your enemies strength against them. You can use their energy to heal yourself, or make yourself stronger or faster. If you are detected, you can erase yourself from their memory, like you were never there. Most important, you can take the strongest enemy in a room, and make him an ally. So even though we work alone, you'll never really "be" alone"
"Yea, and all that is great until the first bullet hits me" Noah said with a smile
"Thats why I'm here, to teach you what you need to know." Jenning said, " I'm not gonna tell you that there aren't risks, but our risks are calculated. In fact, if your good enough, you shouldn't see much fighting at all."
"So lets assume that I agree to all this...what happens next?" Noah asked
"Nothing much changes. You go to school like normal, but your normal "patrol" time will be spent with me so we can work on your skillset" Jennings said, "Football will be a good excuse for any injuries you get in your training"
"So, you get me to kick around and train...do I get paid for this work?" Noah asked
"No" Jennings said mockingly with a laugh, "Money can be traced Noah besides, like you said, your just a kid...what do you need money for? Besides, I have something much more valuable to you then money"
"Yea?" Noah said slightly annoyed, "and what would that be?"
Jennings smiled a strange smile, "I have your father"
"Glad you came" a voice rang out from down the hall, "like the place?"
"Yea....charming" Noah said with a grin, "So now I'm here, maybe you can explain why"

Noah stood in the darkness, light creeping in from around the edges of a door. He adjusted the comm in his ear as he prepared himself for his fifth time running through this exersice.
"You ready?" Jennings voice said over the comm
"As ready as I'll ever be" Noah said with a deep breath
"Alright. Just remember Noah, it's not real invisibility" Jennings said, "Your still there, your just mentally telling them that you aren't. Erasing yourself from their minds. You have to focus."
"Yea...use the force...got it" Noah said with a smile, "Lets do this Yoda"
The door slid open, and inside appeared to be another old warehouse. There were men everywhere. The goal was simple, to make it from one end to the other without being detected.
Noah focused his powers and began to move forward. He concentrated on blocking his presence from their minds. He moved slowly through the crowd of people, keeping his focus forward. Unfortunately, he kept his focus too far forward. One of the men behind Noah, jumped like he was startled, then ran over spinning Noah around and dropping him with a hard punch. A alarm sounded through the warehouse, which signaled the end of the exersice.
"Your dead Noah" Jennings voice said
"I'm really starting to hate that" Noah said rubbing his jaw
"Two things Noah" Jennings started, "First, your focusing forward, leaving you open from behind as you well found out. You need to focus all around you, a full 360"
"Yea, well thats not as easy as you might think" Noah said frustrated
"I never said it would be" Jennings replied, "Second, your moving much to slow. This needs to be second nature to you...like breathing. You need to be able to move, jump, and most of all think while your using this technique."
Noah pushed himself off the ground, "Set it up again"
"Lets call it a day, and we'll start agai..." Jennings started
"Set it up again Jennings" Noah said determined, "We don't work office hours around here right?"
Noah could hear Jennings chuckle over the comm, "Alright Noah, lets run it again"
