Post I10 OOC update:
Kat spent the weeks leading up to the invasion squirreled away in her room, fighting off migraines caused by her psychic shields. This gave her a lot of time to think as, like she says, "Dark, quiet rooms are boring." She thought a lot about her powers, her friends, and why she still wanted to be normal. She eventually came to accept that she would never be normal and that was okay. With that realization came an acceptance of others' differences from her as well, especially Arkady Romanov, the object of her ire up to this point. After some time, Kat understood that she was projecting her desire to be normal on those around her, especially those that looked very different from her. She re-entered her social circles with the goal of mending fences the day before the first invasion.
During the first day of the invasion, Kat hid in the bunker with the other students, a fact that to this day she kicks herself for. At the same time, across town, her parents were crossing a bridge in Talos, attempting to reach her. A dropship dropped a bomb on the bridge, which exploded killing Kat's parents and sending their car into the bay. They would not be found for two weeks. Meanwhile, Kat flew about the city, trying her best to save as many civilians as possible. All the while, her relationship with Arkady was growing beyond the friendship she was hoping for, which was further complicated by the fact that Arkady was dating her friend Jess at the time. Kat vowed not to interfere and told Arkady she was happy just being friends and continued on her mission to rescue civilians from the invasions.
During one such rescue, Kat became trapped under a collapsed building with a little girl. While under the rubble, Kat talked with the girl and kept her calm with stories of her efforts in the city prior to the invasion. She began to see why the public reguarded her as a hero and slowly started to accept it. When she was nearing the point of exhaustion, she was rescued by Arkady, Oby, and Lightfall. Arkady and Kat decided not to hide their relationship any longer and are currently dating.
When Kat discovered that her parents had died in the initial invasion, she signed up to join the Cadet Vanguard Corps, believing Vanguard has the best shot of ending the war the quickest and with the least amount of casualities.
Currently, Kat's grandparents have custody of her, but are allowing her to remain at Saint Joe's at her request. She has become much more outgoing after her ordeals over the past month or so. She continues to get headaches to this day, but tries not let them hinder her as much and is almost never without her trusty bottle of Aleve.

I11 Update:
Kat has settled into life at Saint Joe's very well since she enrolled 6 months ago. She is still dating Arkady Romanov and still struggling to get B's in most of her classes. And she is still signed up with the CVC, still the idealistic youth that believes Vanguard has the best shot of ending this war. This has put a strain on her relationship with Obsidian Seraph, as he tends to call it "the new Hitler's Youth".
Kat traveled to Romania to bury her parents and to introduce Arkady to her grandparents. The trip went well for the most part, although Kat's grandmother is appalled that Kat isn't dating a good Catholic boy.
For the most part, Kat is still just a cheerleader with a solid C average, who happens to be able to pick up a car with her mind.
