((I know this is an odd time to post this, but I figured if I'm going to be using Gabe's backstory heavily in I10 I should probably post the details so you all know, OOCly at least, what the heck is wrong with him))
A long time ago, around a far-away star, there was a planet not unlike earth.
And on this planet, there lived a race of people, kind and gentle beings, farmers and crafters and builders who worked very, very hard to keep their little society peaceful.
And in this utopia lived a person, named Amatsethero. Amatsethero was basically a good person, but she (or he, for this race had no different sexes) was only a mortal being after all, and sometimes bad things happened.
One night, something very bad happened, and Amatsethero's brother, Amareth, was injured severely. Though Amatsethero swore on her very soul that nothing had transpired between them, the Brother was implacable in his accusation, whether it was for selfish reasons of his own, or because Amatsethero truly had injured him/her we do not know. All that is certain was the terrible price to be paid.
Though this peaceful society was loathe to use violence, they could not abide anyone who would commit violence on another, and so they used the most harsh penalty their law would allow. Amatsethero was to be torn asunder, her soul severed in twain, her body removed and burned to ashes, so that no more might be known of her until she had redeemed herself through the actions of her split halves.
And the halves were cast into the multiverse, adrift and without direction. For millennia they wandered, taking bodies as they could, never realizing the redemption they worked towards existed, only occasionally even realizing the truth of their nature. They were each the opposed halves of Amatsethero's soul: male and female, introverted and extroverted, dark and light. Sometimes one of them would be a great hero, sometimes a diabolical villain, sometimes they would be lovers, other times enemies. When they ended up on the same side, their bond was unbreakable, when they ended up opposed, one inevitably killed the other.
And so they cycle, even to this very day, through endless repetitions of the pain of death and the joy of rebirth. As empires wax and wane like the moon, as cities grow, flourish and decay like ancient trees, as the face of the earth itself is changed by the winds and the waters, they act out their endless dance of primal separation.
This is the story of Amatsethero, the girl dissolved.
The Dissolved Girl.
