Early morning chat

Post by Kris O'Sullivan »

[ooc] This is where I hope Lycia and Kris learn quite a bit more about each other, but mostly Kris explaining the craziness she's been experiencing.[/ooc]

Kris awoke from her nightmare, once again. She had been in a run down hospital in Aeon City, and saw three female agents of Arachnos, blood widows she thought they were called, putting something into the IV drips of women in labor. She could feel the dark intent that seeped from them. The intent was so dark that it caused her to awaken. Two of the women in her dream were people she knew of. People she was related to.

Quietly, Kris crept out from under her blankets, and looked in futility for her house robe. The floor and air were a bit chilly, making chill bumps rise upon her scantly clad body. Rubbing her arms to regain warmth, she looked to the coffee pot, which she had been calling Lycia's AM Lover. The air carried her breath like false cigarette smoke, which amused Kris, even though her face remained unchanged.

Thinking it over, hot coffee probably would help warm Lycia and her up, and make the chilled air stop being such a pest! Padding over to the coffee pot, Kris made coffe the exact way she had seen Lycia do it before. When the coffee was ready, she filled two cups, and placed them upon her gothic room mate's nightstand. Gently she kneeled beside the bed and shook her. The floor's chill shot through Kris who shivered her lithe form in protest. This older part of the dorms seriously needed some help!

"Lycia," she whispered. "Come on, girl. Wake up. I need you to talk to me."

After a few moments, she leaned closer to the dark haired goth, and actually spoke.

"Lycia, please. I need you," she pleaded with the sleeping goth. "Don't make me crawl in there with you! It's cold out here."

"huh... wha..." Lycia wearily replied. She rolled over to see Kris shivering next to her bed. "Here climb in, it's frickin' freezing in here" said Lycia as she pulled back the covers and made room for her new friend. This was thier last night rooming together as the offical room assignment went into effect the next day.

"What are you doin' up at this hour...What time is it even?" Lycia rubbed the remaining grogginess from her eyes and spied the coffee already waiting. "Oh sweet! You are a life saver, babe!" Pressing the cup to her lips, Lycia noticed the pensive expression on Kris' face. "Got something on your mind, Sweetie? Get in here and tell me all about it. I know I may not seem like it, but I'm an excellent listener."

Kris blinked at Lycia's invite. In some ways it seemed wrong, but in others it was more than reason enough being as cold as it was. Ending her internal debate, Kris eased into the bed with Lycia. Her best friend was quite warm, as were the covers, so she knew she would be okay for the moment.

"I think... I need to tell you about my healing powers, and my harming powers. Then I need to tell you about my dreams. It'll make sense, once I'm done. In a really bad way," she explained.

"When I use my powers, it alters my state of mind. My harmful powers make me a bit dark and... vile, I think. While my healing powers make me feel... Well, like when I think of kissing or something like that. Only a lot more intense. This is SO embarassing," she nervously laughed. "Anyway, aside from my powers being mood changing, I don't register as anything but a normal human being on any sort of metrhod for detecting powers. MAGI says I have no magic, DATA says no to cyberstuff, and GIFT says I scan as a normal person with no potential for powers. So, Longbow said, I was a mutant, with some sort of new stealth power."

"Anyway, I started having these dreams. About the Rogue Isles, which is where I was born. Arachnos agents, female ones, were giving some sort of drug to the pregnant women, saying it would make their babies strong. My mother and my grandmother are two of those women. Lycia... I'm scared," Kris said with a trembling voice as she tried to hold her tears back, and be brave.

"Hey now, they're only dreams" Lycia tried to ensure her friend. "And dreams can't hurt you... Not now, not here, not ever". She held her frined in her arms in an febble attempt to comfort her. "Just relax, Arachnos can't get you here. You are completely safe, you don't need be of them and most imporantly you don't need to be afraid of yourself. You're here to help you understand and control your powers, so don't worry. You'll be fine! Besides you got me looking out for ya!!! Nobody messes me!!" Lycia attempted to sound confident, but was pretty sure it wasn't completely convincing. "Tell you what, you just lie here and go to sleep and I'll stay up and make sure nothing happens. I'll wake you at the first sign of a bad dream. PROMISE!"

So Lycia remained awake through out the night, holding her sleeping friend. She wouldn't have gone back to sleep anyways... she glanced at the clock... 2:56am. Almost three...That's when it was going to happen. Thats what the others had told her.

Lycia reached for the lamp on her night stand, being careful as not to disturb her slumbering friend. She clicked it on, there was a flicker of light and a "pop" as the bulb burnt out. "Damn it... Not now..." she thought. In the cornor of the room the shadows moved. Subtly, almost unnoticable it was so slight, that a second later Lycia wasn't sure if it really had happend. She looked back the clock ... 3:00am... Lycia held her breath and waited...Nothing. So she sat motionless in the dark, waiting for the sun to rise.

Kris nodded and tried to go back to sleep. It felt good knowing that there was someone who really seemed to be looking out for her. It felt a little odd that she had a slight crush on her gothic friend, but it was a good sort of odd. A lot like when she used her empathy to heal.

The light popped, and the silently sleeping Kris woke but stayed motionless. After a bit she rolled onto her back, and looked at Lycia. She could barely make her out in the dark, especially without her glasses, but it seemed to her that the apprehension that came from her friend wasn't dream related.

"What is it," she whispered softly. "What's wrong?"
