Letter for my Daughter
My dearest daughter,
I sit here six month pregnant with you and I find myself unsure how to start telling you about whom and what you are. I have decided to write you some letters in hopes that they will help you come to terms with who you are.
First let me tell you about me. My name is Margret Marie Sloan and I am the 12th daughter of 18. The women in my world have lots of children which is something much different then here in your father’s world. Don’t worry dear it will all make sense as you read more and more of my letters to you. I had a very normal loving childhood and when my time came to serve in the armed forces (something required of all the children in my world) I was eager to serve. I was assigned to the bodyguard detail for our dignitaries. I was plain and small but fierce and I made a good guard.
I was two years into my required four years when the most extraordinary thing happened. A dimensional hole opened up and a bridge between your father’s world and my world was built. Dignitaries from both sides went to the other and I was sent into your father’s world to help protect my assigned Ambassador Ming May DeLang. When we where here on Earth (as you will know this place) Ming May was assigned a guard from Earth as well. His name was Robert Brown and he and I worked very long hours together. We got to know each other very well and after only eight months together I am now having his child. You will be my first daughter and with that will come great responsibilities but you will learn those later. Your father and I are to be married in a month just before you are born. It is not important to me but for your father it is very important and so I will oblige him.
I am meeting with Ming May and her superiors tomorrow to decide my fate. See I have committed a great crime in my world by being with your father. In my world we have humans too but they are not in the same class as us. We co-exist with them as our familiars and they enhance our magical abilities but all cat-people are forbidden from taking them as lovers to preserve our species and our inherent powers. When a human and a cat-person mate the natural inherent powers of the cat-people do not pass to the next generation leaving us as a people much weaker. However here in this world Earth the humans have there own special powers so we have no idea what will happen with you once you are born. There are a multitude of possibilities you could have more power then any of my people you could have no powers at all or you could be like your father with enhances powers. Only time will tell.
I suppose until this hearing I should wait to write more because it will decide your entire fate and mine.

My dearest daughter,
Well my meeting with May Ming did not go as expected. Don’t worry that is actually a good thing. I had expected them to shun me and strip my powers with an ancient ritual leaving me to never see my family again or the ability to use my gifts. Instead what has been agreed to by all parties is that I will remain on earth. I will keep my powers and when you are born if you are with out powers you and I will stay here and nothing will change. If you are born with powers then we will both be welcomed home and it will be our choice where we live, although I love your father very much and leaving him here on Earth and going home is not an option for me. He would not like it in my world. He would not be given the same status as the rest of the world even though his powers work there the rest of my people would shun him.
Now where was I oh yes Familiars your need to know about Familiars, When you reach maturity you will find out that the bond we share with our familiars’ is far greater then any bond we share with a lover or a mate. The bond between Cat-person and familiar is a bond of magic and very hard to break. Your father is not only my mate and soon to be husband he is my familiar as well. Threw him I am able to draw power and threw me he is able to draw power. Our bond makes us both stronger and threw it we are never alone. Someday you too will have a bond with someone that you choose to be your familiar and when that day happens your life will change you will no longer thing of only yourself but also of your familiar. They become your charge your responsibility, don’t worry though the bond can be broken. If both people agree or one person wants it enough the bond will cease to exists. If it is mutual you will both be sad and ill for a day or so but if it is one sided the weakness and sadness can last a lot longer but you will recover.
Most of the cat-people have several familiar’s threw out there lives. Your father is my third which is about the normal bye my age. I will talk more about Familiars in later letters dear.
I bought your crib today it is white with little white roses on it. Your father and I picked it out together. His mother and father paid for it as a gift. We have a house in Steel Canyon and we have repainted the room for you. It is pink with green ivy around the trim. Your crib is going to look so nice in it. Tomorrow we go to the ob-gyn and I am having an ultra sound I can’t wait to see what you look like I hope your tail is long and your ears are short like mine. But if there not it wont matter I love you so much my darling daughter I am counting the days till I can hold you in my arms and snuggle you close
