Mothers Day

Post by Eddie Amplitude »

(I couldn't quite figure out where to put this and it gave me an idea. This thread is for anyone who wants to post what their character did for mothers day. This thread is open to anyone who wants to post, but it has to do with mothers day.)

---

Eddie stepped from the cab, the cool morning breeze brushed across his face. “It’s nice to be home…” he though to himself as he walked towards a local flower shop.

It had been five months since he’d been back to his hometown, but everything was just as Eddie remembered it. The people, the clear skies, the slightly sweet smell of the thin Colorado air. To some it might not have been much, but there would always be a place in his heart that would call it home.

Eddie purchased a single long stemmed rose and continued on foot down the sidewalk.

--

Eddie sat on the freshly cut grass with a mild sigh, placing the rose he had bought in front of him. He smiled faintly, a single tear rolled down his cheek. “Hey Mom.” Eddie muttered inside his mind to the small slab of granite before him. “I found a place to get help, there’s a school in Rhode Island for people like me. Can you believe it?” he projected, thoughts drifting in the breeze.

Eddie looked down at the rose, it lifted gently from the grass and stood on its end. “I’ve gotten a little better.” he said before the flower settled back to its original position.

“I’ve made a few good friends while I was away.” he thought, memories of his friends cycling through his mind. Although Eddie knew a good amount of the students at the school, there was one that always seemed to be at the top of the list.

“I finally understand what you meant. No man has ever fought so hard as the one who fights for those he loves.” Eddie quoted, the saying his mother had told him years ago brought a faint smile. “I found someone that I fight for. I think you’d like her, her name is Sam.” his smile widened briefly at the thought.

His watch beeped, Eddie sighed, “That’s my flight, I have to get back.” he thought into the air. “I’ll be back again soon ok?” Eddie didn’t want to leave just yet, there were so many thing he still wanted to say. The watch beeped again.

Eddie stood, another tear escaped from his eyes. “Happy Mothers Day.” he said reluctantly, staring down at the piece of stone again. Eddie closed his eyes before turning to leave, “I love you, Mom.” was his final thought before he began slowly walking away from the tombstone.
