The History of Saint Joe's
Well, I said I would start one, so I did. No "little posts" for me, these days!
Here is what we know so far:
1912: Saint Joseph School for Exceptional Young Women is founded in Paragon City by the nuns of the Order of Cupertino. The mission is reasonably clear: superpowers are God-granted gifts, and they must be used with both responsibility and faith by those who have them. Students learn about civic responsibility, etiquette, and the use of their powers, in addition to learning the academic subjects of the day.
1969-73: Some time in these years, the school becomes Saint Joseph School and opens its doors to young men as well.
2002: The Rikti attack Paragon City (oh, and the rest of the world, too-- where is that place?). The school is shut down because of the danger. It is reasonable to assume some-to-many students are killed in the attack and the events immediately following.
2005: Saint Joseph School reopens, only a shadow of what it once was. Much of the equipment and facilities were destroyed during thr Rikti War. However, a bold new group of students come to the school, and the future looks bright.
So... pretty sparse. Anyone with ideas, please post. Possible points of interest include:
1. Famous students or staff.
2. Anyone with a deep understanding of the timeline could suggest other dates and things.
3. How the mission of the school may have evolved.
Okay... go!

we could do so much with this part alone. and that's without using any heroes curently in the story1. Famous students or staff.
perhaps we could have some conflict or another happen between 1973ish and 2002.. somthing that would give the school a bit of character. we could do the usual good student gone bad thing.. or one of a number of other scandals that always go well when using a private institution.
on a side note, We have alot of people in the group.. I for one would love to hear everyone chime in and offer some ideas. this is ALL of our home and game. ( as far as I see it.. this is as much a seprate game in CoH as anything) we all get a voice in helping mould it into reality.
Absolutely right.Jaygo Jones wrote:on a side note, We have alot of people in the group.. I for one would love to hear everyone chime in and offer some ideas. this is ALL of our home and game. People, you really do not need to be nervous about posting. Contrary to other threads, I am not to be feared.
A lot of people have said things like, "but I don't want to mess up your vision!" Well, a simple answer: you can't! Even if you have an idea that contrdicts something we've already said, we can always work with it.
So have no fear! Shape our school!

Okay... go!
How about the era of Statesman and WWII (the Golden Age of heroics)? Surely we must have had a Sister Mercy, who saw to it to go join the effort and heal our boys on the front lines, or something like that?
And of course, with the 80's came the corporate edge to the art of education. Probably had some company like Crey try to buy the school out, or something to that nature.
Then, just after the Rikti Invasion, what would keep a company like Crey from buying the school? A wealthy Founding Family to fund the institution that grew with the city, through all of these years. If you want, I'll get on down to the nitty gritty and research all of the sites I know of with history for Paragon City, Rhode Island.

Paragon City is in Rhode Island?Kris O'Sullivan wrote:If you want, I'll get on down to the nitty gritty and research all of the sites I know of with history for Paragon City, Rhode Island.
Damn, I've been looking for that factoid for like six months.
Anyway, yes please! Research suggest!
And the "wealthy family" could be the Winstons, one of whom is the current headmaster.

Yeah, this seems like a good place to ask...
Where is the school, physically, like what area? I would feel dumb if I said "Moon hoped the tram to Atlas" when the school is IN Atlas (or whatever) Like I just got on the tram to kill some time or something, heh
I looked around, but didn't notice anything about a specific location. If there is a thread about, kindly let me know

I always figured the school was in one of those inbetween zones, like the ones you go to in the "train missions". We would just have to give the neighborhood a name!MoonTide wrote:Yeah, this seems like a good place to ask...

Sounds good to me, TC! I like that! Something like Haverton Heights, or whatever...
