The Devil Wears ... a school uniform?

Post by Tiffany Seagler »

Tiffany (she prefers Tiff, really) smiles at Nick as she pulls a cart from the line up as they enter Paragon Pricemart.

"He looks so tense," she thinks, "he really needs to smile more often."

"Hey Nick... you mind pushing this thing while I grab what I need and toss it in?"

"I don't mind at all, that's what I'm here for."

As they wander the aisles making idle chit chat of items they see, Tiff finally grabs two bean bag chairs from a large wire bin and tosses the first into the cart. She lobs the other at Nick.

"Think fast!" she says, giggling as she runs around the corner to the next aisle.

Nick reflexively dodges and then looks up to find his antagonist gone.

"Hey!" he shouts, after Tiff.

Tiff was ready for him, swinging the pillow she'd picked up as he rounds the corner and catching him in the face. Indignation crosses his face, quickly replaced by a big, impish grin. Ducking a second swing, Nick grabs another pillow off the store shelf to adequately arm himself.

"Now you're gonna get it!"

Chaos ensues, ending when they both can’t breathe because they're laughing too hard.

As the two pass the toy and game section Tiff grins mischievously and picks up a bottle of bubbles.

"Hey... how many you think we can pop using just our noses?"

In his most pompous authority voice Nick says, "Miss, what do you think you're doing? Those aren't your bubbles until you pay for them."

Bubbles fill the air and Tiff jumps around attempting to poke as many as possible with just her nose.

"They should make these things sweet or something so when they pop in your face you don’t mind how they taste or smell," she giggles.

Tiff grabs up a rainbow slinky off another shelf and begins playing with it. Letting it glide from one hand to the other.

"Wow! They still make these things? I remember my mom saying they had these when she was a kid. She showed us how to walk them down the stairs and stuff."

Tiff continues grabbing random toys off the shelves.

Grabbing an Elmo doll she turns to Nick and begins wiggling the doll around and in her best Elmo voice says, "Hi I'm Elmo! Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?"

"Get that thing away from me! You have NO idea how annoying Elmo is." Walking a little further Nick picks up a bucket of Legos. "This is more my thing," he says. "I used to love making Lego models. I'd even have explanations for all the parts and what they'd do when you fit them together."

“Really? That’s cool. My little sister and I use to play with Lincoln logs.”

The smile is pretty much a fixed expression now every time she looks over at him.

“C'mon.... we should probably go pay for these, including the bubbles...."

Standing in the check out lane Tiff stands closely beside him checking her shopping list, making sure there’s nothing forgotten. When her turn comes, she pays the cashier.

Just before they are about to leave she turns to Nick.

“Oh hey... lets just grab some Mooby Burgers while we are here k? I'm starving and it'll be a pain to carry these into a regular diner.”

They go into the attached restaurant and as they order Tiff says, “I have an idea. Let’s get it to go.”

“You want to sit in a park and eat?”

Again her mischievous smile shows. Grabbing the bag of food and drinks she pulls Nicks sleeve and says, “C'mon!”

Through the store, past the clothing, and sports aisles she stops in front of a large screen TV on display showing the movie "The Devil Wears Prada". She grabs the beanbag chairs throws them on the floor nearby and plops into one motioning for Nick to have a seat in the other.

“Just sit the bags down they’ll be fine, we can watch the movie while we eat.”

“What?! You’ve got to be kidding! We can’t do this!”

“Shh! The movie’s starting! You want to miss it?”

“But…”

“Shh!”

Nick can only stand with his mouth agape for so long before realizing he’s been outfoxed. Plopping down on the other bean bag chair, he settles in.

“Hey, hand me the fries, will you?”
