OOC: This is more of a vignette, so as not to drag people in if they're not interested, but anyone with two cents is welcome give it.
Aeon lets herself into Quad 5 with her new key. She's nervous, but annoyed that her veins feel empty of adrenaline; she missed the impulsive, heart-pumping physiological responses that once gave her the courage to go thorugh with these sorts of things. But cyborg organs don't care about high school.
The room is currently empty, relieving her from having to make some sort of enterance. She looks around, taking stock, and dumps her armload of personal belongings near the unclaimed bed. It isn't much: a battery charger adapter, the reticle for her right eye, her monitoring suit's self-cleaning and storage case, another change of clothes and an extra, newly-tailored uniform, and a folder of Saint Joseph School paperwork.
She eases herself onto the bed, the mattress sagging sadly, and runs a pre-shutdown diagnostic. Low on potassium again? She hates bananas. It's the texture that does it, really. Instead, she pulls an apple cinnamon Powerbar from a pocket on the front of the case and munches on it contemplatively. Stupid body. On top of it all, everybody assumes she's so much older than just 15. Even the Outcasts and the Hellions whistle at her, but usually she just beats them up.
Why is violence always the answer around here? See someone breaking the law? Beat them up. Bad day at school? Go beat up some thugs. Fight with your friend? Practice beating each other up. It seems that everyone is trying to avoid the normal solutions to normal problems. Sure, superpowered problems often have higher stakes than normal ones, but that's no excuse to ignore the regular hardships of growing up.
But she can see why it happens. There's no quick fix for growing pains, and beating stuff up is so easy when you're a mutant or whatever. Even she feels it sometimes--like everything would be better if some people just went away.
Out in the field, something clicks. Her thoughts drift away and it's just her and them and vital points and Newtonian physics. Self-preservation is the only drive, efficiency is the means, and to fight efficiently is to fight to kill.
Shouldn't she feel bad about this? Well, she never saw anyone die--they were teleported to the Zig before that. And if doctors could put her back together, she is certain all the people she had fought are just fine. No worries.
After all the missions today, mucking about in warehouses and alleys, she could use a shower. She takes a towel from the folded linens on the foot of the bed.
Upon her return, synthetic skin and wet hair gleaming in the afternoon sunlight, her new roommates are still not to be found. She catches her reflection in the full-length wall mirror half-obscured by the microwave, and marvels at technology. She thinks she's rather pretty, actually, all things considered. Prettier at least than the plain, flat-as-a-pancake, stick body she used to have. Strange, though, how the face is so similar--just...better.
She isn't sure why she's worrying about this at all. She never used to. People liked her even though she wasn't super pretty--or super anything for that matter. Before the fading thing, everyone liked her, invited her to parties, listened to her opinions, and came to her for advice.
But here... While hardly anyone ever seemes to say, "No," she knows they want to. Instead, they joke and prank to hide it all. They want to tell her she has no business in Quad 5. No business associating with the popular girls. Instead, they made excuses and tried to scare her off. Or was she just being paranoid? This was the first time she didn't enjoy a place of priviledge where she was assumed to have worth without having to mark her territory.
She puts her clean uniform on. It fits perfectly for her weird shape, at least; it doesn't ride up or anything. She can't wear much in the way of normal clothes anymore. No more cute skirts and sweaters and cowboy boots without looking like some evil robot doppleganger of Dolly Parton.
She sits on her bed and pages through the orientation packet for the tenth time, but bores of it and looks around the room. These girls don't seem so different from her old friends--from how she used to be. But she would have to prove herself to these kids and to herself again and fight all the misconceptions anyway. It's really scary. It feels like fading all over again.

Summor walked out of her last class, thankful that finals and all the headache's that came with them were finally over for two weeks. Her hair was messed up and her skirt was scratching her legs like a kitten growing claws. She messaged her temple with two fingers and pinched the brudge of her nose. She knew the way to her quad, leaving her problems with each foot step as she got closer. The only thing to do now was sit down, and write the problems out of her mind as she went.
People liked her paper, it was funny considering just three weeks prior, before she left, now one associated her name with cool, amazing or for that matter nice. She didn't leave for shallow purposes, as everyone now knew. She still felt like a joke though, like somewhere they were all congregating and laughing at her lame attempts at trying to fit in. The letter with all the homosexual bashing popped into her mind along with the Arachnos hate mail, and the traitor and spy comments she'd get off an on. She left them with each pat of her shoe.
"Heya Summer!" Came the cute voice.
No voice on earth could be in this school and have a peppy tone except her favorite girl of all, minus her love of course. Merin looked up at Summer with her big grin that only a girl her size can have. Summer smiled back weakly.
"What's sa matters? Bad day?" She asked.
"Just tired, Short Stack, tired and a little lonely." Summer answered.
"Lonelys? Why Summer, I'm right here." She replied.
"Eh, don't worry your lil' head about it Short Stack, when school starts up, it'll be you, me, your sis and a room all to ourselves, no bad people and no yelling fat guys." Summer said.
"Okies." Merin said, "Hope you feel betters Summer."
"I will, I just need sleep." Summer said putting her hand on the knob.
She twisted it, pulled it open and stopped dead. The Terminator was sitting on her bed reading a information packet. She had a flashback to Terminator 2 when Sarah Conner screamed no at the top of her lungs and ran the opposite direction. The girl looked up at Summer with a bionic eye.
"Hello Room-mate."
Summer stood in the door way, a look of fear mixed with anxiety and curiosity stired on her face.
"Are you okay?"
Summer was still standing in the catatonic state, unwavering in the speech department to utter a syllabel. Aeon got up and started for her. Summer wanted to move and she kept thinking that till Aeon was right on top of her.
"You're flushed and your heart rate has dropped, you need to sit down." She said in a neutral voice.
Summer briskly avoided her and sat on her bed and looked at her, still keeping quiet. She was still having a flash back to the scene in Terminator.
"Are you okay, Summer?"
Her named snapped her out of it as everything rushed back into her mind and locked the door leaving her conscious self to control her body once again instead of stay in neutral.
"Hmm?" Summer asked.
"You were flushed and your heart rate dropped, I'm asking if you're okay." Aeon replied.
"I'm fine. Just uh... little surprised."
"Funny, your school documents say you're hardly ever surprised, statement from you says your mutant ability is prediction of the Chaos Theory." Aeon answered.
"Not anymore." Summer answered, "I lost my powers on a sabbatical."
"Unfortunate, I'd've liked to hear how you do it." Aeon replied, "Forgive me, I'm your new roomate, Aeon Quisling."
"Did you ter-, meet the others?" Summer replied, "Erika and Stasis?"
"Negative, I haven't talked with either, you're the first to be in here all day." Aeon replied.
"Huh, well, I bet Stasi and Erika'll show up sometime before midnight, they have this weird thing about the room, staying in it bugs them." Summer answered, "I know you know my name."
"Summer Aeon, the daughter of Doctor Aeon, righthand mand of Lord Recluse, your words." Aeon replied.
"Good, least that's out of the way." Summer answered.
She looked at the ground trying to find out what to say, she was a new girl, just got in, Summer was here long enough to learn how to spot new people. Why would they send this girl here into Quad 5, the place wasn't for those who liked comfrotable enviornments, the hatred these two had for eachother, despite diminishing since the beginning of the year, still had them uneasy. She came her because Stasis was the only girl that gave her the time of day and Erika was impartcial to her thus making this a relatively easy shoe in, but a new girl, that was just weird.
"Hot chocolate?" Summer asked.

Jason walked up to the door to quad 5, and unexpectedly saw it open.
"Hey, is Stasi around?" Jason knocked lightly on the door.
"No, superstar, she's not here. Why, you looking for a date?" Summer asked.
Jason sighed, when were people going to clue into the fact that Stasi was just a good friend. They picked on each other mercilessly, sure, but she really was like a sister. She had Jai, too. That should be enough for people to realize where her heart lay.
"No, I'm not here for a date." Jason's grin turned mischievious and lit up. "I've just got a few things for her. I heard about the new theatre, so I thought I'd bring her a few Movies."
"Uh huh. What movies?"
"Silencers, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Funny Face, Scandal, and The Devil Wears Prada." Jason was barely holding back from laughing.
"Those movies are all old or weird, Stasi likes those?" Summer asked.
"All the movies either revolve around or are considered examples of style for their time." Aeon interjected.
Jason's grin broadened. "See, someone gets it!" He smiled at Aeon. "Hey, when did you move into the Quad, Aeon?"
"I was assigned and moved in, recently"
"Good, it'll give me another reason to visit." Jason smiled. "Hey, you guys make sure she gets these movies?" He looked at Aeon, "And don't tell her what they all have in common, it'll be more fun if she's confused about it for a while." He looked at Aeon, not sure what to make of the android. She was a bit stiff at times, but signs of her loosening up came to the surface every once in awhile. It was those times that he really did enjoy.

The sudden turn in the conversation with Summer startled Aeon back into consciousness. She really was nervous--autopilot had kicked in. Just like in the field, where a little violinist from the subburbs had no idea how or why to dispatch villains. But human logic capacities back online, the thought of hot chocolate and new friends brought a smile to her face.
"Yes, please...!" Although it still held an artificial ring, her tone softened and inflection returned.
Even more startled was Summer. The Terminator smiles? The Terminator drinks? The Terminator likes hot chocolate?? Oookaaay... She edged uneasily around Aeon and busied herself with preparing two mugs.
The cyborg girl rearranged her stance to reflect something more casual and peered around the room again. Then a newly familiar voice from the doorway broke the tension.
"Hey, is Stasi around?" Jason knocked lightly on the door.
Mundane conversation ensued, autopilot brain deeming it necessary to kick in again. Why was she so nervous? Even though Jason practically glowed with casual, Aeon felt like she was walking on eggshells around him--and now even more self-consious since Joni had pointed out that Aeon appeared to be crushing on him. But that wasn't it at all. Sure, he was cute, and funny, and super nice, but... It was more because he was friends with Stasis, and best friends at that. Aeon flashed back to public school days. Comedic pairs were indelible, and the best anyone else could do was be a third wheel.
She forced a smile anyway, certain it didn't look any stranger than her normal smile. "We'll see to it that Stasis get the movies." She took them from Jason as the microwave beeped. "Are you...in a hurry to get somewhere...?"

"Me?" Jase thought a sec, and shook his head, "Nah, it just looked like you two were doing that whole 'New Roomie' thing. I don't want to intrude." Jason smiled that broad smile. "Besides two days in a row that Stasi and I got to bug each other? The world would implode or something." Jason chuckled. "We don't see each other all that much. That's why we tease each other when we do. Kinda like making up for lost time? We're both loud, and outspoken," He shrugged, "so people take notice, you know?" Jason looked at both of them, and grinned, "But no, I'm not in any big rush to get anywhere. What'd you have in mind?"

Summer pointed to everyone when she talked, "You, her amd Me. Pretty much got a mountain of Hot Chocolate in this room and enough cups to handle it. Thus, sit, talk and drink deep seems to be my idea of a good way to relax."
She looked at Aeon, the feeling of uneasiness was subsiding but that didn't mean she wasn't a little guarded. She had a thing about new people, a slight for a xeno-phobia possibly, but nothing she'd call acute and dibilitating. She didn't mind some of the new faces coming in for school the next semester. There were enough but maybe it was just Aeon herself that messed with Summer. Maybe it was more on a genetic level that irked her, but she shoved it aside and took her for her word. She didn't like being shunned and she wouldn't shun someone else, that'd just be hipocritical.
She walked over to the microwave, poured the cups with water, stuck them in and set the timer and planted herself in her desk chair next to her computer.
"Damn, I'm glad we're on break finally. I know Stas and Erika will be happy to not be woken up at 6 in the morning for me to get outta here and get my finals done." Summer said, relief oozing out of the comment.
