Tawney paced her bedroom. It wasn't fair, She had been stuck at home gounded since her parents found out. Well there were a few times that she got out by leaving an illusion sulking in the corner. It was his fault, "When I find out who he is I'll kill him." She nodded at her proclamation. Turning to pace once again her large tummy in the lead she tried once again to remember that new years night. That night she had gotten pregnant.
Tawney vividly remembered the begining of the night. She remembered that guy from The Rogue Islands and how she had caught his eye early in the night. She remembered the event as well. Knowing it had been good and that the guy was in very good shape, she just couldn't remember his face.
Tawney sat in her chair fighting off the urge to sleep thinking about the past nine months. He left her totally alone, her parents wanted her to give it up and she was broke. She didn't know how she was going to manage but she knew she would.
*Drip*
Tawney's eyes shot open, realizing she had fallen asleep. Something was wrong. Her eyes scanned the room finding nothing out of place, and then she felt it. She was wet. Looking down it suddenly hit her what had happened, her water had broken. Millions of year of animal instict and motherhood ingrained in her genes then took over and did what was expected of her, she screamed her bloody head off.
What seemed like hours later she was in the cab with her hospital stay kit that they had prepacked headed off to St. Mary's. Arriving shortly, they were met at the car by a handsome male nurse with a wheelchair. Tawney did as she thought best and stomped his foot while he helped her get into the wheelchair. After all he was a man and a man had done this to her so he deserved it.
She waited in the hallway for about an hour before they finally brought her to a room. Her parents wanted nothing to do with her or the child. They wouldn't even take her to the hospital.
She laid in the bed contraction pains now starting to come out of seemingly nowhere. A grizzled vetran nurse had helped her disrobe and get into a gown. Laying back, Tawney opened her eyes once the pain had ebbed looking around the room. No one was there. It wasn't supposed to be this way, he should have been here holding her hand and comforting her. He wasn't there though and Tawney was alone and becoming very scared.
"I can't do this yet I need more time!" she begged the empty room and to her surprise she recieved an anwser. "Well you don't really have much of a choice do you?" The vetran nurse had returned and looked at Tawney with little sympathy in her eyes. "My name is Sister Ann and i'm going to help you."
Some hours later Tawney was floating around the room with an occasional wave of pain that made her realize she was still in bed. Her Doctor had checked on her a few times, always saying she wasn't ready yet. She felt a line of numbness ending just below her diaphram, which was just fine with her, remembering the pain from before. The Doctor came back in with Ann and examined Tawney. "Ahh very good I think you're ready now Tawney." Looking up in shock she didn't think it'd be so soon. She had only been here... looking up at the clock she couldn't figure the numbers at first but they came into focus and she realized she had been here almost 9 hours. The doctor looked down at her and said "Well Tawney are you ready to have your baby?" All Tawney could manage back was "Oh shit."
The rest was a blur of hands and waves of pain and sharp spikes of pain. She struggled against it, it hurt so much, she couldn't do it. She fought and cried and screamed, until she heard the Doctor say "It's crowning." Ann was next to her holding a hand and whiping down her face. Everyone was telling her to push and for the first time it was real and she listened. She pushed and struggled and yelled for all she was worth until it felt like all her organs had fallen out. It was then that she heard it. She heard her baby crying and she was crying with it.
They examined the baby measuring and weighing it. Ann came ove with Tawney's child wraped in a blanket. "Tawney this is your daughter, do you know what you're going to name her?" Tawney, never looking up from her precious newborn, said "Caitlyn."
Some time later, she had gathered herself together. She sat there with her child. Her parents had told her she had to put it up for adoption, but after seeing her... she just couldn't. What would she do? She wouldn't be able to stay at home with her, and she couldn't afford to move out. "God I wish Mimi was here." she muttered under her breath. "She would know what to do..." her voice trailed off.
She spent a few days at the hospital to recover and for them to check on Caitlyn. When Tawney was ready to go home with her baby, Ann the nurse came into her room and said "Tawney the father of your child has his DNA on record. Here are the results of the paternity test." Ann handed Tawney the envelope and Tawney opened it immediately thinking to herself "I can't wait to kill him!" Looking down, Tawney's eyes opened in sudden shock, this can't be... the father of my child is...
