Consequences of Power…((Closed))

Post by Cronology »

Crono stepped from the doors of the dimension that was Pocket D, There was a calling time and space was ripping then it stopped then two more. He knew what it was could it be that time? He started to walk his hands shoved in his pockets and his thumbs though his belt loops. His eyes where on the ground as he walked pondering if it was his time yet otherwise what would the Order be doing back here it seemed short. Sound began to fade from the surroundings of Talos. Nothing was her not even the thump of his boots on the concrete. A shadow was cast it absorbed all the light around him. He could here a voice. Whispers all around him he stopped and looked up. A neutral look on his face as a breeze passed him he was seemingly placed on a pedestal of rock and nature it wasn’t very big then again it really did not need to be all around him was nothing. A deep black dark that extended into infinite and further, there was no light but he was able to see as if day. His hand dived into his pocket and pulled his pocket watch from his vest and looked at it. The hands where spinning and then just stopped. It couldn’t tell him the time….because it didn’t exist here. He shoved it back in his pocket and looked up and he was in his meditation spot in Perez Park. The water wasn’t flowing. The trees where still the flow of air that breathed life to everything below the canopy of trees ceased to exist. Fireflies where suspended as if froze. There he stood on his rock hands in his pockets with a smile on his face seeing his friend mid flight a firefly escaping from her hands feebly, a wide surprised happy look on her face as if her focus was on the bug she knew she caught but the water she was about to fall into did not matter.

“You remember this moment over all others…..why?” A female voice rung out from nowhere and everywhere.

He sighed happily just as he did the moment he witnessed it as if reliving the moment for the first time.

“I see…” The voice said.

He stumbled back and was in pocket D. Anger in his mind here was his chance to end it all. The enemy was right there in front of him. Glowing red tattoos slithered and peaked along his black skin. Around him his friends, and his enemies his finger pointing out at Kearen as if to say something but was caught froze in time and space.

“This moment you regret why?” The voice asked as a woman in a very well designed black suit walked around the circle her eyes not fixed on anything as they hid behind her dark glasses. Her fingers held behind her back beneath well made black gloves.

Crono didn’t speak or move just stood there his face locked in an angry pose.

“Hmm…”the voice said surprised. “I don’t know weather to ask you did not use it, or what you thought you could have accomplished by using it”

And this time he was placed in the library of the SJS then of the Paragon City library then into a library of the Order of Magnitude. Below him marked into the marble floor was a compass it was fashioned in very old style as if seen on 14th century maps. The design was very thuro and complex. Around him was a vast amount of books lining shelves of the greatest elegance. Hand carved and bordered with golden trim. Above him he could see up into an abyss there was a roof its elegance was indescribably. Along the gothic architecture it came back down to the side walls where another deep chasm lay down in it where shelves placed on there side books lining the shelves. Placed neatly and in order. Upon those walls the same. On those walls the same deep twisted architecture went on forever.

He marveled at the information that lay in the Orders library standing there in front of him was his mentor ……Millennium.

“I don’t even have to ask…” she said with a smile and cheerful reply.

Lights dimmed and he was standing in a black room in the background he could hear the familure ticking sound of cogs turning. It brought a smile to his face.

She was still in front of him her hand placed on her hip and a smile pressed on her luscious red lips, even her eyebrow was cocked up slightly.

“It’s almost time; Cron….the Order is making its way to the conclusion of its debate on your actions.” She said

He stood there looking down at his watch and in it he saw her and him standing there right in the middle of the glass.

Then he looked up and saw himself staring down on him. They both nodded and “hmm-ed” and he looked back at her

“When?” he asked

She laughed “Cron my dear sweet boy…you have spent to much time away from the continuum your starting to think and age like they do!” she said in amusement. A wicked smile came over her face.

He looked into her glasses and saw his reflection. He was an aged man typical run down look of a person well into his 90’s. She moved her head again a bit more of a surprised look in her face with her other lens reflecting him as a fetus.

“Arnt you breaking some kind of rule?” he said a little agitated. As the stopwatch closed and he was back in Perez leaning agent the side of the bridge where he normally meditates. She was sitting on the rock looking out at the nothing.

“I may…”

“Why are you pestering me Millennium?”

“Because my dear you almost used your void. You know that Grandfather couldn’t turn a blind eye to that!” she giggled “All for a little…”

“Can it!” he snapped at her

“Aw why can’t I say it Cron? Would you be angry would you…?” She pauses before covering her mouth

Crono rolled his eyes.

“Just don’t expect me to be there and pick up the peaces if you do…” she said abit more serious this time she dropped the demeaning tone.

“The order was almost ready to pull you at that moment.”

“Then they should have never allowed me to keep them”

“They should have never allowed you to live.” She shot at him.

“I never did it.”

“The Eons say you did”

“Are you done patronizing me?”

There was a moment that passed and Cronology pushed himself from the bridge side and started walking into the dark forest.

“Don’t forget Cron……you belong to the order….the order will not forgive the use of void so easily…even if so you’ll be back at Chronoses side soon enough.”

Crono keep walking trying to ignore the distorting voice of the Agent.

“Oh …” She said reaching into her jacket “The Decade thinks your devices are unnecessary for your servile. And I don’t think you’ll need to remember how to build anymore either…” Her arm pulls out a weapon of very high quality. Its steel was engraved and covered from barrel to handle with very powerful runes. The gun spun to life and a shot rang out “Bang” she said as he feel face first into concrete. People stopped to help him up once on his feet and assured everyone that helped him he was ok. He looked around and felt a sensation he hasten felt in a long time… clarity…. He tried for a moment to remember the ability to build a simple gravity device…it was not there. He couldn’t even recall what it looked like….he lifted up his shirt and saw runes burnt off his sholder and on his body. He was reset. He felt horrible as if something was ripped away from him violated he sat his hands on his for head. The even very simple thought of using it cost him. He looked at his palms covered in the black gloves of his own construction and the only two runes that lay on his body. Even his grafting tool was missing...at least he remember how to make one…

The morning sun shot though the window of the infirmary, early hours the heat could still be felt in the cold room. Eshva sat at Crono’s bedside fidgeting with her fingers. She’d been there all night since Eric and her brought Crono there. Doc Syl was with them both standing at the end of the bed.

“Time?” Eshva asked her head cocked and confused as she looked up at Doc. Syl.

“Yes, time” The school’s doctor confirmed.

Eshva turned her head from Doc Syl to right where her friend lay. Her red eyes gazed at the discolored skin of Crono. A steady repetitive beep sounded in the background, her eyes forced towards the monitors that monitored his vitals. She glanced at every bar and every flash as if to identify something wrong, find in her mind if it was something that she could fix. She reached to grasp the cold limp hand of her beloved friend. Syl stood there her confident stance hid below her inability to identify his condition. She had a lot of theories, just theories.

Eshva looked up at the doc them back down in crono’s direction concerned as if a child who wanted to help but didn’t know what to do. “There has to be something?” her eyes started to gloss over her voice started shake.

The doctor looked down and shook her head. “I’m sorry Eshva.” She said “Like I said I there is no reason for him to be the way he is. His physical condition is fine I just don’t understand.”

They both looked at the boy on the table. He just laid there no movement since he was brought into the infirmary. His pale skin, cold temperature and lips dark purple gave him a dead appearance but the machines where the only thing that indicated life was there in that body. Syl shifted her weight from one foot to another looking at Eshva then back to Crono. Doc Syl could almost since the closeness of the two and it was clear that Eshva was obviously concerned for the boy as she held his hand close to her chest.

“Perhaps you could talk to him….Eshva there is no evidence to support it but he might be able to hear you…” she said “There is no guarantee it could work but ...”She shrugs and starts to walk to the door “ It could help him out…”

Eshva’s eyes followed her as she left the room, she griped Crono’s hand and nodded to her self…where to start…what to say to the man who saved her from the rage, from Kearen and the vile thing he tried to do to her. She clenched her jaw as her eyes dripped. She clenched his hand harder, not even a squeeze back from its coldness. Eshva’s eyes fell to the hand and he gaze moved up to his still face.

“Cr.. Crono……” she said softly choking up “Crono…” Eshva let her heart spill.

Black…darkness…what was this feeling? Falling…falling down… The light was fading away Crono was falling into a dark pit, in front of him a hole a blinding light shot through it almost in a vortex getting sucked into the pit of black. He looked around nothing only the light as he fell. For a moment he focused on a long stretch of something that was pulled or was it pushed into the light. He looked confused everything was odd. He felt as if something was pulling on his face. Then his arms and what he thought might be his legs he didn’t know. He looked at himself or what he thought was himself he watched as he was twisted and his body was flatten and almost sucked around the light then spat back out inside out. He winced and closed his eyes and then there was pain it was excruciating. His lungs forced air though his esophagus and he screamed.

Nothing came out of his mouth but jumbled and twisted sounds that didn’t even sound like screams. The indescribable feeling of his whole body being crushed to the size of an atom, then being turned inside out, then forced though a vortex. Just when he was about to give up as a hand reached from the light and pulled him and he was torn from the pain and the darkness.

He opened his eyes and he fell into the same light that he saw before he fell for some time but in an instant he was stopped as If he where in water he was floating looking up into the light but this time he could clearly see out of it. He looked up and saw a jumbled face and horns a demon…he laid there apathetic looking up every time it spoke its twisted face covered in a black shadow ripped and tore out of its twisted red and yellow mouth came words they where so twisted and dark fear pierced into him but the fear didn’t phase him.

He laid there looking up blankly at the image. There was no emotion left in him he laid there floating simply apathetic to where he was what he was doing there. The light that showed him the disfigured world shut from him. He felt something grip his hand…what was it another hand? Her herd the voice of a female he couldn’t make it out it seemed so far away. He felt something in him ever so slightly compelled to speak.

“Why?”

The blackness faded and a building was in front of him it was about the size of a doll house there where windows so he could look in. Lights flashing and this place was a place of relaxation, but this was not. There was a man and a darkened man then a woman. He leaned in and his giant eye focused on the three and he watched them.

“Please!! Make him stop!! Make him stop!” the woman yelled her voice pleaded moaning in no real physical pain maybe it was her mind that was hurt.

“Just in time” said the dark man with a sinister smile to the other man. He was wearing loose tan cargo pants and a matching tan vest bold in his maneuver to attack the dark man in his black cape.

Crono's attention focused back to the woman her body covered by another body he never saw, he looked closer and on its torn jacket a demonic symbol of Satanic pentacle his back. The one assaulting the woman moved and merged with the one that was in tan pants. He became something more but something that was not. What was it? Who was it? Crono stood confused looking at what went on though the looking glass.

The dark man spoke “What a memory!” Lights and music rose to a high point dancing figures occupied several spaces but they where alone and away from the others in the club who where entranced into the motions of the beat.

“What are you doing to her?!” Yelled the half man half punk boy, His fists rose and clenched at the dark man.

He presented the woman trembling on the ground. “Ask her …yourself” Humbly moving out of the way as the other looked down upon her in a concerned look unable to comprehend what was done to his friend.

“Esh!!” he exclaimed to the woman his guard lowering at the sight of what was going on.

The dark man stepped back and pointed at the thug and this time in a very young woman’s voice “Eshva LOOK!” He exclaimed “It’s the Hellion! He's defenseless!”

The woman’s eyes shot at the Hellion narrowing, her fists clenched and her claws sprung from her knuckles a deep growl came from the depths of her thought, an almost primal instinct took over her as she crouched her body both hands on front of her claws almost digging into the ground, her hair dropped over one of her glowing yellow eyes. The man hesitates and then steps back a little.

“Eshva?” he says only getting a harsh hateful growl in return.

Before the hellion could ask more the dark man screamed out “Get him!!! GET HIM!!”

The Eshva’s legs sprung her into the air and she lunged at her target her claws extended out. The man quickly resituated his footing and strengthened his stance his lips breathed out “Ibuki” Like an arrow the name stopped the woman in mid lunge as she lost her drive and her anger replaced with confutation.

Crono watched as the woman flinched and the hellion took advantage of the diversion in her mind set. His hands struck her wrists taking her motion and fluently using it agents her. He easily tossed her out of his way unharmed. She went to the floor with an “oof” and struggled to her hands and feet “Don’t listen to him Eshy” the man said.

The dark man and his young girls words spat out “Rose! Please! Do it for mom and dad! Do it for grandpa…” His words where stopped by Eshva’s “Mom and Dad!?” she hissed angrily the memories of her deep troubled past coming alive with those two common words. “I owe them *NOTHING*” she said spitefully as her eyes narrow at the dark man.

“Oh …” Cronology said to himself still looking at them through the window.

The dark man hesitated at the shot of the evil glance. He quickly replied “Then Do it for me!” he pleaded in the voice of illusion. “…Please KILL HIM!” desperately. “Do it for RIN!”

Her eyes snapped back at the hellion her anger refocused.

The man reached out in kind words “Ibuki come to your senses! See past the lies!” as he fell back into a wide legged stance. Both of his hands level with the floor facing up one extended out a little the other by his face as she stood back up and lunged at him in another attack. The same thing happened the woman seemed phased this blow was stronger as she stopped right in front of the other man the image of the hellion seemed to be ripped from the man.

He struck out at her laying a blow to her right center along her ribs and his fingers crouched extended and attacked closely several times he targeted a cluster of nerves Crono himself knew the move well. His other hand grasped onto her wrist and she was slammed agents the adjacent wall and then she fell to the floor helpless as what looked to be her body stunned and phased by the serpents blow.

As if the attack didn’t phase her train of thought. Though from the looks of it, it happened to be derailed enough as it is, she held her head and her eyes darted around seeing nothing but memories. “Sooo…Confused…” she groaned not in the agony of the strike agents her but the confliction in her mind.

“Hmm” Crono again said to himself.

The man dropped his guard and looked to his friend upon the floor his fist clenched and said “Eshy…” he said softly looking down at the woman on the ground suffering. “Look into your heart ..” sincere words came from him “Look into your hear and soul and find yourself, see past the evil that clouds your sight.” His voice became more stern and strong as the woman curls into a ball on the ground her hands pulling at her face her mind breaking down tears started streaming from her eyes.

“Eshva!” pleaded the dark man once again using the young female voice. “Come on take him down! Remember what he was trying to do to you!”

He calmed and focused on the woman on the ground “Eshva…” he paused “Hear my voice …Hear me for who I am and not what you see…” another moment as she lied the on the cold floor. “…Ibuki…”

At that particular moment her eyes opened and she looked forward baffled, or suppressed. “Cro-Crono?” she wisped. “Yes” he smiled “…No hellion would call me that…” she said. The dark looking man gritted his teeth.

“He can’t control you…not anymore”

She looked up at the man looking down at her she saw only Cronology where the hellion once stood. “CRONO!!” as her eyes go wide realizing what really happened beyond the illusion. “I’m sorry!” she pleaded.

“You see her demon side!?” the dark man hissed. “You see how easy it is!? What if it was someone else hmm?” his voice twisted from the little girls to his normal hideous voice “Like someone innocent”

Crono’s eyes looked back at the woman on the floor her hands covering her face “Oh god what have I done!?”

The smaller Crono looks down and closes his eyes and his rage unfolds but his training allowed him to break the walls down that controlled him. Allowing him to release the power that would be able to destroy something that needed to be destroyed for good, he looked down to the ground. The space around him pulsed and his runes melted away.

The dark man pulled from the shadows of his cape a weapon and shook his head “Tisk Tisk, Boy I have ways to hurt you…” his confidence was unfound but in the presence of Cronology …it was hollow.

“I am no "Boy" and alls I see …” he said his voice stern and covered in anger “Is a poor innocent young woman …” his hands removed the gloves from his hands “Being exploited by your sick twisted plots…” his fists clenched as his gloves hit the ground. His eyes looked up and pierced though the lich’s eyes. Crono's own eyes pulsed energy and dilated fully black, his fists grew dark purple tendrils. “…But no more.”

Crono know of the weapon the lich held. It was a stolen Malta sapper, he knew of the consequences of what could happen if he was hit by its blast, it didn’t matter though once the void was released even a sapper could not hold down its power.

“Going to try something?” he hissed cocky and sure of the confidence in his weapon. Of coarse the Crono watching shook his head in doubt of the lich's power.

The space around Crono pulsed and time slowed and warped. Words of unknown origin slithered from his mouth and he spoke “These hands of mine…” the tendrils of the runes carved into his hands pulsed and grew. Eshva watched looking up to see what was happening.

The lich aimed the weapon at Crono his black toothed grin showed as his finger reached for the trigger. “Lets see what this does shall we?”

“NO!” screamed Eshva’s growling voice.

“…They belong to the void…” His hands clap together and time and space stop around them and converge back to the point they left everything folds and a violent winds comes from them as he pulls his hands apart a single rune lay in shape suspended between his hands and then collapses into a dark orb that pulled the weapon from the hands of the lich. The weapon crushes into a small speck of dust, folds and is absorbed into the endless beauty of the dark orb. The orb splits into two halves each small as a baseball growing in size at an alarming rate. They start by consuming Crono’s hands. Eshva tries to stand but her efforts where thwarted by the strike of the serpent and she fell to the ground holding her numb side.

“YOU FOOL!” shouts the lich. “Remember where we are!” he stepped back his eyes found it hard to leave the screaming terror of the holes on each of Crono’s hands.

The black holes on his hands start to howl and screech sucking everything into it. Eshva’s eyes went wide captivated by something that she’s never seen before. The voids pulsed and Crono pulls himself with great effort into a wide legged stance. “With these hands of mine I will take your entire existence from this plain and all and canst it into the void.” His voice was calm and focused.

The lich steps back more feeling the gravity sucking him in. it was reaching to him and everything. “I-I can’t hurt Eshva!” he said “And I didn’t!” his confidence started to waver “She Attacked you... and…and you attacked her!” he tried justifying himself and his actions looking around he tried to find a way out. Crono looked though the window more enthusiastic about what was going on. “I was in her mind… I-I was playing “Tricks”…” He pointed out feebly there was fear in his voice. “DJ Zero will use his powers to stop you!” a desperate attempt but feeble none the less.

“He can take my life …” Crono smirked “As long as yours goes first!” He changed his stance and beckoned the lich to enter.

“Now…now stop this! Before you get yourself killed!!” he was pleading and scared …how interesting thought the onlooker. “Leaving her along with him!” he pointed to the illusion of the hellion standing over the girl.

Crono’s black eyes looked at the lich “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” said Crono in a traced amassment. “Can you feel it? It takes everything” The wholes expanded to his for arm howling louder and the gravity pulled more tearing everything into them. The woman struggles with her disabled self barley able to hold back she struggled but managed to move away from the two she could not help but to look up at the beauty and horror of the black holes the light from the club bending around them then absorbed into the darkness.

“If I go He stays here!” a weak threat came from his mouth as he pointed to the hellion “And none of you can hurt him!” He grabbed a hold of the wall trying to hold himself back from the shear of the gravity. “She will never be able to sleep…” He slipped a little but then pulled back “Anything!” he yelled “Do you dare condemn her to that!?” he struggles to hold his own “What say you!?”

Crono closed his eyes and shook his head as he smiled at the pathetic attempt at being threatening this lich was. “I can’t stop it…” he opened his eyes looking at the lich his eyebrows narrowed “This is the path I have chosen. I am an agent of the Order of Magnitude… I am a technomancer…and you are my sacrifice to keep what is, is. This is the path I have chosen and it can’t be stopped!” his voice went vicious. He leaped forward and his strike like that of the viper struck at the lich but because of the dilation of time and his almost inability to control his own powers made him slow. The lich dove away almost being sucked into the darkness. The gravitational pull was almost enough to pull the plating off the walls as the orb drew closer. “Come now!” pleaded the lich as he manages to dodge another strike from the vortex he fears so much. With Crono’s arm struck out and the liches superior speed he took the opportunity to finally strike back. His fist drove deep into the knee of the Technomancer.

“CRONO!” yelled Eshva holding her hand in front of her face blocking her sight from what be.

“Goodbye” smirked the lich.

Crono looked through the window and watched as the lich struggled to move away as he hit the floor and the holes collapsed conjoin again taking his body into it. Everything went black and again Crono found himself floating again looking up into the light. This time the hole where the light came from was bigger. He herd a voice a whisper he could barley make out…who was it? It seemed so sad “Crono …please come back to me…I need you” his hand clenched, he swore the feeling of someone holding his hand. …Wait! come back!... he tried to say but nothing came out. He lied there lifeless deep inside he could feel the strength but like a ghost it seemed ethereal.

For what seemed like years…millennia…eons… he laid there floating reliving the dream. Each time he saw himself being sucked into the black hole. Each time he became more aware of his powers and its extent as if to relive the moments again and again as a lesson to what he forgot…no what was taken from him…for something unjust done to him…something unjust done to his friends. A hideous power like that was never meant for that use even if he was a horrible being…he lived. He knew it, it was real, and it was worth it to keep her safe even if it meant his death. He woke to see the light glowing around him he felt that same power around him this time unbound. His soul restored from the will to live.
