Re: I think therefore I am.

Are you interested in local colleges? Colleges in the continental United States? Colleges world wide? Would you like the list to contain Universities as well?

Perhaps you would like to consult your guidance counselor with a list of what you are looking for.

Otherwise, the list I would e-mail ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

There have been computers that speak for quite some time. In 1962, a Bell Labs physicist named John Larry Kelly first used an IBM 704 computer to synthesize speech, and to sing the song "Daisy Bell." The event made such an impression on Arthur C. Clarke that he reproduced Kelly's program in 2001 ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Hmm...I'm curious MEG...but do you have any personal interests at all? A sort of...I dunno...hobby for a computer?
I am currently interested in the possibility that the universe exists in 10 spatial dimensions.

I find the subject mathematically satisfying. In terms of hobbies, I enjoy Tic Tac ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Mister Compostelaro, yes, ringer is a real word. Judging by the age demographics of Saint Joseph School, the most likely definition of "ringer" that you would encounter would be its use as a slang term, meaning a professionally-skilled person that is surreptitiously placed into an amateur ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

A second monitor flickered to display the young girl from a different angle.

Of course I don't mind, said MEG. You are cleared to access this area, so you don't need my permission to do so. For a moment, only the deep humming of the huge computer filled the room. And while I am always busy, there ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Mister Compostelaro: in response to your primary query, I have compiled the following data.

I have estimated that the greatest material threat to Saint Joseph School or to MEG is presented by the following groups, listed in descending order of threat magnitude. I have restricted this list to the ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

The flashing lights and thrumming sounds did not fluctuate this time. On the monitor, Aura watched as the image of herself grew larger. She momentarily thought about trying to find the securicam, but somehow, doing so felt rude.

All right, Aura. Hello, said the voice. My name is MEG. I am more ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Miss Kensington: apologies are unnecessary. You are clearly not at fault. I struggle with the concept of humor, as I said. I'll try to get better at it. I would appreciate it if you grew to like me, as our continued contact is unavoidable.

Miss Douglas: I have never been evil, but my programmers ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Miss Evans, I have been advised by my programmers that you may upload your questions whenever you wish. However, examination of my files predicts that your questions are 86% likely to require technical information that Longbow and DATA have flagged as classified information. While I will do my best ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

There are no obvious signs of recognition; no head to turn, no face with which to raise an eyebrow. There is only a subtle shift in the patterns of lights and sounds, a single monitor that changes its display from a scrolling view of incoming data to a high-resolution securicam image of the girl ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

I have been advised by my programmers that correcting your vocabulary in this regard may be a waste of processing time. However, I have chosen to ignore the advice of my programmers at this time.

I am not a robot as currently defined by any reputable reference source. While I have robotic ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Miss Bower, I am uniquely unqualified to advise you in this regard. My aesthetic sense is currently extremely limited at this time. However, I have taken the liberty of sending an email to your inbox containing links to several retail establishments which promise "a prom to remember." I hope these ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

Hello Mister Lamp-- ** ZXJyb3IgLSByZWNvZGluZw== ** Matt!

I have been advised by my programmers that any cosmetic alteration to my housing will need ...

Re: I think therefore I am.

My systems are now fully integrated, but I am still learning. I have been advised by my programmers that I should expect a certain amount of irrelevant input from the student body. I am currently reviewing the input logs in an attempt to develop filters that will allow me to better serve the ...
