((Inspired by my entry on 05/16/06 in the Interludes Thread, this is an open thread, but is especially open to Detective, Sapphire Angel, and any others who want to take keen interest in Simon's past.))

Simon opened the armoire, and froze. The scrapbook his mother and father had kept was missing. He searched all through his belongings for it, then throughout the room. His adoption papers were in that book, along with his entire history, as seen through the eyes of his parents. He had to find it. Finally he found a manilla folder on his desk that wasn't his. Opening the folder, he found a scrap of newspaper from here in Paragon City.

"Amid destruction in Baumton, family suffers after initial onslaught"

The article was almost a page in length, but it detailed a particular family in what was now Boomtown having survived the initial wave of the Rikti Invasion, only to have lost one of their sons to a kidnapping. There was a picture of a young woman with a boy who looked like Simon, only with no chin hair. Something told Simon this was only the start of something bigger than he could comprehend.

Sitting down he pondered the yellow scrap, then picked up the student directory. Angel had said he looked like Detective, as had Detective, himself. Maybe he needed to talk to Adam again...

"Where'd you get that," Simon asked, a little anger on his voice, which was suddenly gone with the next statement. "C'mon in. I got somethin' ta ask ya 'bout. Close tha door when ya come in."

Simon walked to the manilla folder. Looking down at it, he felt a little ill. He'd never been teased for being an orphan. Mainly because he looked enough like his parents that nobody ever questioned his lineage. He picked up the folder, and handed it to Adam, when he turned back around.

"Somebody took my family scrapbook, and left this. Sorry fer bein' so edgey," he appologized.

As D looked at the article he quickly put it next to him without even reading it.

“To answer your first question I found this on my desk a few minuets ago”

Ones again D picked up the article and began reading it and Simon could tell D was a bit uneasy while he read it

“Where you say you where from again?”

After reading the article a few times over D seemed to feel really uneasy being around Simon. So D made his way over to the door

“good luck finding your scrapbook, Simon”

With that D walked out the door and made his way to go back to his dorm to Continue his nap

Simon watched Detective leave, then shook his head. Either it was a nickname for sarcastic reasons, Adam was tired, or, he was a lousy detective. Simon shook his head, choosing to believe it was the older guy's need for sleep. Standing up, he decided to go to City Hall to review the archives. Time to do some detective work of his own. Someone wanted him to know about the Hartigans, so he was going to find what he could, come hail or high water.
