((This storyline is open for anyone to join, but will mostly involve Pluto and the understanding of herself, It will take place as she grows beyond security level 20 taking place mostly between the SJS science lab (if there is one) and the library I am going to go into a little bit of scientific detail about her power and it may get a little graphic in my descriptions. but oh well we are all grown up...... I hope.))

There was only one thing that the young looking woman brought to SJS with her besides herself. Her book she didn’t know if people may or may not have talked or seen it. The book was large old and ratty, weighs in at about 15 lbs of paper and notes and ink. The book was black tattered and had a relief in the hard cover of the radiation symbol. The book had a bunch of sticky notes marked in a system of numbers and letters unknown to everyone but the user. The pages themselves where yellow indicating age.

The new outfit that she was issued by Syrge was "new" to the woman the studded leather belt with the short skirt and something besides thigh highs. She was obviously more comfortable in her old costume but sisters insist she wear her uniform once she was considered "20".

It bothered her she couldn’t hide her face mostly insecure because allot of the times she was prone to bleed from her mouth from the sickness she contained inside her. She constantly consulted an outside physician that she regards as the only one inside paragon who know her physiology and on more than one occasion refused treatment from the schools medical facilities.

She slyly and quietly made her way around the outside of the courtyards finding the most ....non-discreet way to the labs the wind was kicking up a little and she could recognize the ping from the weirs holding up the flags on the flag poll. Pluto slipped into the labs unnoticed to her knowledge her power to fly has given her the edge in stealthy maneuvers and other applicable abilities.

Along with her book she carried a steel case that she tends to run off with once in awhile. Her body twisted into the dark lab lights off under the level of the tables she made her way down three rows and two tables over to the one she prefers. They all where the same clean and maintained by the staff...but this one she liked.

The case was set down as well as her book a hand reached up and flipped on one of the precision magnifying lights. The light barley pierced the darkness of the room. But gave her enough light to do what she needed to do. In the book she opened it cracked and cracked and flipped to the default middle due to the spin being warn down. A few pages more and she reached a section where she always referenced often.........

Table of exposure levels and symptoms
Dose-equivalents are presently stated in sieverts:

0.05–0.2 Sv (5–20 REM)
No symptoms. Potential for cancer and mutation of genetic material, according to the LNT model. This is disputed. (Note: see hormesis). A few researchers even contend that low dose radiation may be beneficial. [1] [2] [3]

0.2–0.5 Sv (20–50 REM)
No noticeable symptoms. Red blood cell count decreases temporarily.

0.5–1 Sv (50–100 REM)
Mild radiation sickness with headache and increased risk of infection due to disruption of immunity cells. Temporary male sterility is possible.

1–2 Sv (100–200 REM)
Light radiation poisoning, 10% fatality after 30 days (LD 10/30). Typical symptoms include mild to moderate nausea (50% probability at 2 Sv), with occasional vomiting, beginning 3 to 6 hours after irradiation and lasting for up to one day. This is followed by a 10 to 14 day latent phase, after which light symptoms like general illness, anorexia and fatigue appear (50% probability at 2 Sv). The immune system is depressed, with convalescence extended and increased risk of infection. Temporary male sterility is common. Spontaneous abortion or stillbirth will occur.

2–3 Sv (200–300 REM)
Severe radiation poisoning, 35% fatality after 30 days (LD 35/30). Nausea is common (100% at 3 Sv), with 50% risk of vomiting at 2.8 Sv. Symptoms onset at 1 to 6 hours after irradiation and last for 1 to 2 days. After that, there is a 7 to 14 day latent phase, after which the following symptoms appear: loss of hair all over the body (50% probability at 3 Sv), fatigue and general illness. There is a massive loss of leukocytes, greatly increasing the risk of infection. Permanent female sterility is possible. Convalescence takes one to several months.

3–4 Sv (300–400 REM)
Severe radiation poisoning, 50% fatality after 30 days (LD 50/30). Other symptoms are similar to the 2–3 Sv dose, with uncontrollable bleeding in the mouth, under the skin and in the kidneys (50% probability at 4 Sv) after the latent phase.

4–6 Sv (400–600 REM)
Acute radiation poisoning, 60% fatality after 30 days (LD 60/30). Fatality increases from 60% at 4.5 Sv to 90% at 6 Sv (unless there is intense medical care). Symptoms start half an hour to two hours after irradiation and last for up to 2 days. After that, there is a 7 to 14 day latent phase, after which generally the same symptoms appear as with 3-4 Sv irradiation, with increased intensity. Female sterility is common at this point. Convalescence takes several months to a year. The primary causes of death (in general 2 to 12 weeks after irradiation) are infections and internal bleeding.

6–10 Sv (600–1,000 REM)
Acute radiation poisoning, 100% fatality after 14 days (LD 100/14). Survival depends on intense medical care. Bone marrow is nearly or completely destroyed, so a bone marrow transplantation is required. Gastric and intestinal tissue are severely damaged. Symptoms start 15 to 30 minutes after irradiation and last for up to 2 days. Subsequently, there is a 5 to 10 day latent phase, after which the person dies of infection or internal bleeding. Recovery would take several years and probably would never be complete.

10–50 Sv (1,000–5,000 REM)
Acute radiation poisoning, 100% fatality after 7 days (LD 100/7). An exposure this high leads to spontaneous symptoms after 5 to 30 minutes. After powerful fatigue and immediate nausea caused by direct activation of chemical receptors in the brain by the irradiation, there is a period of several days of comparative well-being, called the latent (or "walking ghost") phase. After that, cell death in the gastric and intestinal tissue, causing massive diarrhea, intestinal bleeding and loss of water, leads to water-electrolyte imbalance. Death sets in with delirium and coma due to breakdown of circulation. Death is inevitable; the only treatment that can be offered is pain therapy.

Louis Slotin was exposed to approximately 21 Sv in a criticality accident on 21 May 1946, and died nine days later on 30 May.

50–80 Sv (5,000–8,000 REM)
Immediate disorientation and coma in seconds or minutes. Death occurs after a few hours by total collapse of nervous system.

More than 80 Sv (<8,000 REM)
Immediate 100% fatality

..........The table was part of her day to day reserch.

Analysis

Pluto placed both of her pail hands on her steel case, both of the flips opened and the case flipped up slowly with her help it opened all the way. She reached into the case and out she pulled a tissue sample, it was mutated. She pulled out another tissue sample, this one was different it was of a pure human. Two more fallowed, one of an obvious clockwork invention, the next was obviously alien.

They where set out in front of her in an arch. She observed them for a moment before weighting down something in her book a note of sort next to the last.

"Unable to acquire a full sample, samples are of human alien mechanical and mutated-no specific gender."

There where several such notes in this book they all pertained to different things. The books original text was heavily edited over time. "Updated" would be the correct term. The notes themselves where added in where the text placed them. Pluto used the books organization for her notes so she can come back and edit them later. Some notes required several pages of notes stapled or taped to one page.

The note she just wrote to herself was next to the table (>8000 REM) marker.

She sighed and pushed her glasses up on her nose and closed her eyes and held her hands over the arch of samples and she began to sweat and her hands glowed slightly a warm heat flooded the room and bits of visible groups of ionized radioactive balls swirled around her hands and after a moment dove into the sample dishes.

She opened her eyes once the dose was administered and began to write down her findings.......

"Specimen 1: Human tissue showed immediate signs of the treatment. Blood sample boiled, discolored, and vaporized. Tissue sample itself boiled and deformed before dosing was complete distorted beyond known description.

Specimen 2: Clockwork component showed slight deformities, melting and started to glow and super heat.

Specimen 3: Mutant tissue uncontrolled growth.

Specimen 4: Alien specimen showed light signs of resistance before taking on similar traits as specimen 1. "

What she did next would baffle most scientists as she focused once more before pulling the poison from the samples. The samples where clean but distorted.

She sighed and jotted down some more notes before pilling the samples back into her case and leaving it with her book on the desk. She rubbed her eyes not happy with what just happened "I don’t understand" she whispered to herself.

"If I can’t regulate the power level then how can I keep this up...." she sniffed as she again whispered.

Her and went over her mouth for a moment rubbing her lips with her fingertips feeling something subconsciously rang a bell looking at the blood that was on her finger she mummer an absentee in German and with a wisp she made her way to the door over the tops of the desks and out of the door........

She looked left and then right at the empty hall hearing a few people’s mummers from around the complex. Her hand instinctively covered her mouth before making her way to the female’s lavatory.
