Saint Joseph School

Saint Joe’s will be closing its doors on September 19th, the day after our 4th anniversary. On that date I will be removing all members from the supergroup and from Saint Joseph School Chronicles. The Bloodvine Academy and Saint Joseph School Alumni will be unaffected by this. Those SGs are run by others, and they will run them as they see fit. This decision does not affect them.

While I would be confident that the elected Student Council could run the supergroup, the fact of the new SG ranking system is there's no way to make more than one person the highest rank. Only one "leader" at a time, so there will always be one person who is accountable to no one. Keeping the group going would require me to either hand the SG off to someone or to continue paying the subscription for a game I no longer enjoy playing. I’m not willing to pay $150 a year to simply administrate elections, and unfortunately there is no single person in the group who meets all the criteria to fill the leadership role in a way that the group would need. That is highly problematic to say the least, and is one of the reasons why I am closing the doors.

Now, a few items of business:

• The current Student Council will serve out the remainder of their term, which lasts until September 1st, at which time they will be demoted. No new SC will be elected for the last 19 days.
• No new applications for membership will be considered. Any pending enrollments can continue.
• As we draw closer to the anniversary, the storage items in the base will be emptied. For the time being, the items will be distributed at the discretion of the Upperclassmen. In a few weeks, the storage items themselves will have their permissions changed, and all SG members may help themselves until everything is gone.
• As the anniversary approaches, everyone will be given storyline updates on what is happening to the school in character. There has been a story plan for shutting down the SG since the day the group was founded and the story will be shared with everyone so that it will not be a totally abrupt end.
• The forum will stay open for as long as it generates interest. If people wish to continue using this forum to post fiction, plan events or to communicate with one another, that’s just fine. Though the SG sections of the forum will shut down, the SJS forum will remain until such a time when it no longer needs to, at which point it will be locked. It is possible that at a future date, the SJS forum may be folded into a larger gaming forum or even repurposed.

Please understand that this was not an easy decision to make. It may not even be the right decision. But it is the decision.
