Catching a Breath

Winged Siren wrote:Siren squeals in surprise as Simon pulls her into his lap, and rests her hands on his shoulders as she listens to him talk. Her eyes widen in delight, as she exclaims "That sounds like fun! We should go get some!! And we could go to City of Gyros! Have you tried it yet? You have too! Even if you have, you should come with with me while I go- I'm hungry!" She says in about one breath. She jumps up and grabs on of his hands, "Come on! You want to come, right! It'll be fun I promise!"
Oh, dear God! A way out! Yeah! We need to take that chance, and book it out of here!
"Sure," Simon said, feeling relieved, suddenly. "Ah ain't had a gyro befowah. Let's go."
Simon felt like the weight of public opinion was lifted from his shoulders, and Siren's honor was preserved. She really seemed nice, and maybe Siren didn't realize exactly what she was doing. Who could tell? Well, he was willing to help. And, to get to know her.
The two left the gym, with Simon waving goodbye to Mike and Jai. Soon they were across the campus, and nearing the gate into town. She was going to have to be his guide, so this was going interesting, regardless.

As she totes him along, Siren stops suddenly, and looks down at her outfit. "Oh no...I don't know if I should go out in this," She says with a frown "Does it make me look....bad?" She seemingly deflates, abruptly self-conscious. "Should I, change?" she asks.

Simon stopped, and looked at Siren for a moment. She was certainly a beautiful girl, and she was desperately in need of a little more to cover her. He smiled and nodded.
"You probably should, huh," he replied in a way that let her stay empowered and with her dignity. "I mean, as long as you feel that it could be necessary, it might be good to err on the side of safety. I can wait. It's a pretty day."

"Oh! Okay then...come on! I'll show you my room!" She reanimates, and starts hovering towards the dorms, "Come on!" She says with an inviting smile.

Simon shook his head and smiled. This girls was either completely oblivious to somew of the ways of the world, or there was something he was missing. He would believe the former, because everyone deserved the benefit of the doubt.
"Alright," he laughed. "I'll come, but only long enough to see it. I cann't stay while you change. We don't know each other that well, yet. And, there's also the nuns to be wary of, too."

"Oh my lord, could you be any more queer?" Tolliver said, making them turn. The striped boy wore a mixed expression of genuine confusion and malice.
"Pahdon?" Simon said, so shocked that his accent slipped through. He looked at Siren, but she was meeting Tolliver's gaze, a kind of distant smile playing about her lips. He looked back to Toliver. "Suh, please excuse me, but--"
Tolliver waved a hand. "No," he snapped. "There is no excuse for you. It's obvious you don't even know what to do with a girl this fine." Tolliver looked at Siren now, trying to read her expression. "You wanna show somebody your room? Show me. I'll stay as long as you want." He gave a confident smirk.
Siren smiled coyly and asked, "but we don't know one another that well. And there are," and she paused a moment to recall, "the nuns to be wary of, too."
Simon glanced from Siren to Tolliver and back. Who was playing the game here? And who was being played?
Tolliver spread his hands. "Baby," he said with a sneer, "there is no better way to get acquainted. And screw the nuns."
((Okay, Tolly. I cannot stand idly by while you don;t pick up this torch. So I will just continue putting words in your mouth and hope I get close to the mark. Love, B.))

Simon suddenly flushed angry, then realized he was duped. Swallowing, he looked at the two and nodded. He could feel the energy coursing close to the surface of his skin, and hoped he could hold onto civility.
"Well then," he coughed. "If the lady wishes Tolliver's company over mine, I will acquiesce. However, if Tolliver is unwanted company, then he shall have to appologize. Mostly to the lady."

Siren takes a doubtful step back, and inches behind Simon- her expression a mixture of curosity and disgust. The boy intregiued her...but she was having far too much fun with Simon to throw it away so soon. Swallowing her fear she retorts with a cutting remark;
"I do not wish to go anywhere with you! And I don't think I'd be allowed to have a -zebra- in my room!"
She turns, radiating menace, and begins to lead Simon to her room.

Simon considered what he was seeing, and decided to follow Siren, but kept his eye upon Tolliver. He was not going to be sucker punched for turning his back upon the young man. In his heart he felt sympathy for Tolliver. The young man was arroused by Siren, as he was, but did not let society shackle his response. There was a certain something to be said of being that free, however, Simon wasn't going to let that get in the way of common sense.
After a few moments, he decided to walk alongside the unearthly beauty. He felt he needed to lighten, at least his own mood. Looking to her he smiled, and chuckled a little.
"You did very well out there. I don't think anyone else will be able to say theirs was on the same level as your tryout. It complimented your beauty immensely," he said, blushing again.

Siren smiles a little and looks away. "I don't know, I'm not nearly as good as everyone else...but it is very sugary of you to say so Simon." She reaches over to cup her hand in his and murmurs, "You know..I'm actually very surprised."

Tolliver fumed for a moment. He was unaccustomed to being slighted and feeling it matter. But for this girl to insult his stripes, it stung him in a place he didn't care for. "Whatever, slut," he said to himself quietly. Then, somehow emboldened by his own thoughts, he turned and shouted. "Yeah, slut! You couldn't even handle a real man! Must be why you're on the Memphis Belle! Hope you like taking it in the back door!"
He saw Simon pause in his step. Paydirt.
The boy turned around and met Tolliver's gaze. Tolliver sneered and chuckled. "Aww... don't be mad, Memphis," he jeered. Come on. Come on.
Siren said something to him that Tolliver couldn't hear, and Simon nodded, turning around again. Tolliver quietly cursed, searching for another jab to throw. But he still found himself distracted by the shimmy in the girl's hips, and he lost the opportunity as they passed out of sight.
The striped boy clenched his fists and thought for a moment. And a thought hit upon him, and he grinned. He was accustomed to fighting his own battles, but in this case, the wrath of a penguin might be mightier than his fists.
