Saint Joseph School

Adam Westbrook was born in Portland Maine to Robert and Catherine Westbrook. His father is the head of Pediatrics at the Barbra Bush children’s hospital, an affiliate of the Maine medical Center. His mother a professor at the University of Southern Maine where she is involved in the college of education and human development. Born on August 5, 1993 Adam showed no sighs of any mutations. Through his early stages of life he did seem to heal faster from bumps and bruises though the pace was not something that brought about any kind of speculation from parents or others around him.

At the age of 13 his parents, both in retirement decided before they would settle, that they would involve themselves in a volunteer organization spending two years in South Africa. During this this time Adam continued his schooling abroad, traveling with his parents to see a different side to the world he grew up in. The trip was to take two years however was cut short by three months when Adam’s mutation fully manifested itself in an incident where he rendered several of those around him unconscious in a flare up of his abilities.

Adam is a mutant who can boost, disrupt and at times shut off abilities of those around him. For other mutants and super powered beings the results are more pronounced, but even in normal humans he is able to amplify innate abilities of the human body such as cell repair/regeneration, endurance, speed, strength, and even things such as the cognitive abilities of others. He has shown that he is able to augment how much one is able to remember, how much is absorbed, or the ability to comprehend and solve complex problems. His abilities are not limited to humans but it is where their results are most visible. The amplification of things while impressive does not allow for those who are considered normal to become super, the limits of it all being on the individual. (He can not give a normal human super speed but he could possible turn them into a champion sprinter for a short period)

It has been determined that there is a small field of energy that Adam generates that is not within the visible light spectrum. Its effects are random and somewhat tied to his emotional state. It projects itself usually no more an inch from his body but through focus he is able to manipulate it to effect others across a short distance. Those who come in contact with him may feel empowered, weakened or in some cases nothing at all. Flare ups occur in times of emotional distress where a wave of this energy will erupt from Adam not unlike a solar flare effecting all those around, with a random assortment of effects. None of which seem dangerous to the individual unless they happen to have an ability that may be dangerous to others.

In looking for a school suited to fit his special needs Adam’s parents happened upon Saint Josephs and decided it would be a good fit to continue his education both academically as well as cater to his needs with controlling his mutation.

Adam while normally very outgoing has remained generally quiet during his time at his new school. Seeming to still be in shock and awe of all that goes on around him, he usually stays on campus every so often venturing out to involve himself in social gatherings.

Some Common Knowledge about Adam

He has traveled to Africa with his parents for volunteer work
A student did nearly set him on fire (possibly more than once)
He makes an excellent study partner when he is focused.
Adam can not seem to boost his own abilities, either his mutation or his own physical and mental stats. Only being limited to an accelerated regeneration rate of damaged tissue.
In his room he has several small exotic looking plants.

i15 update!

Adam has continued a quiet existence on campus and in the halls. In the classroom his hard work and dedication to his studies has paid off earning him a solid spot in the top 20% of his class. With the end of his freshman year, he has made several friends though none of them terribly close, choosing to spend more of his time trudging through the swamps and wetlands in Perez Park than in a booth at the popular hang outs of Bruno's or Shenanigans.

In his room, he has since set up an aquarium as well as a terrarium to house random things he finds for a day or so in most cases. His only extended pet being a baby eastern box turtle named "Mr. Box-O". Several days a week he can be found near an old abandoned house right near the water in Perez park taking his turtle for a walk, finding him various insects and other protein to eat. (Young turtles need lots of protein after all!)

Adam has not patrolled much since he has arrived, even though it seems to be one of the more popular past times. Due to the unreliable nature of his powers and what they can do, he usually chooses to abstain when others go out. His work with the staff has helped him to better control outbursts from the strange energy field that surrounds him. His Roommate, Bobby Park, still seems to experience some of the more negative effects from coming into contact with him, but Adam will likely say its just because he is worried for Mr. Box-O when Bobby is around.

Adam has mentioned several times to students that his powers work something like Coach Waters'. This isn't exactly true as the coach can nullify abilities in one or many students with a great degree of precision. When this has been tested in a controlled environment it appears Adam can short circuit certain abilities, most commonly in Mutants. Weakening their powers, causing them to miss fire, or even turning them off with rather extreme levels of continued concentration. It seems though to be almost completely single target in nature and very taxing. His boost abilities however, can effect multiple people and require far less exertion to maintain.
