When the Man Comes Around... Part 2

It was late, the sun had slipped behind the horizon hours ago. Ezekiel had welcomed it at dawn and bid farewell yet still he remained...motionless. He sat on the roofs edge, over-looking the Wingra Tree. He had not shown himself among his classmates since that day... the day she died. How could he, the evil had come because of him... it wanted him to suffer, thus others were made to suffer. He sat alone, lost in his thoughts.
A voice, calm and cold, pierced the silence and with it his heart "are you just going to sit and lament, brother? you were meant for grander things..."
Ezekiel spun around to face his brother, but saw only the emptiness of the night sky. " I...I am sorry brother... what you have done...I cannot forgive this. You must not continue down this path... I will stop you..."
" You are weak Ezekiel, you always have been. This was merely the first step in HIS larger plan. He has looked down upon this facility and those within it. He has passed his judgment...Can you not hear the trumpets, they herald the coming of a world... The Lord has cast his vision upon me, I have seen what he is planning... we are to be the vessels of this vision. Surely you must realise that this is why we were created."
His brothers words chilled him, Ezekiel could not move. He stood frozen by the meaning of what Able said. " Why...there is no reason these people have to suffer... they are good...pure...Why would God punish them?"
"You miss the point little brother, this is not punishment...This is His sermon to the masses... a lesson that must be learned. A lesson that they seem to not understand."
Ezekiel turned his gaze to the heavens... his eyes scanning the sky as if it would reveal the answers he sought. "Leave this place, brother... do not return again...trouble these people no further... you have already stolen their light... what else is there to take?" He didn't wait for an answer, Ezekiel leapt from the rooftop, to the courtyard below.
Solomon's voice drifted through the air above him "where do you think you are going, brother...if you have not yet understood the difference, between life... and me..."
