Thinking is evil

Kris sat outside of the city library, looking at the sidewalk. The last few days had given her an overwhelming load of information to think on. She wondered if Isaac Newton, Alexander Bell, or Juan Valdez ever had days like this.
She had learned through working with Detective, a good number of things about herself and her past, as well as possible goings on in the Rogue Isles. Was she a part of an experiment in creating supersoldiers? Is that what her father was working on? And, why would the US be doing something like that, alongside Arachnos, and in the Rogue Isles, of all places?
Then there was this wierd rollercoaster of emotions and states of mind that her empathic abilites were taking her for a ride on. Fortunately, Father Bob and the School Counselor agreed on a meditation for her to use, for gaining focus and control over her powers with. She really hoped it worked. Becoming some sort of dark mistress of justice wasn't on her agenda, though the fringe benefits of the healing aspects of her empathy were really nice.
Then there was romance. Romance! Ha! Who was Kris to be thinking of romance? And to add to that, Kris was a good Catholic girl. Why was she suddenly having thoughts about both genders? It was amoral. But, she couldn't deny that she had a crush on two of her best friends, and was also very interested in Arrow Wraith. Why wouldn't he just go ahead and ask her out?
Running her fingers through her hair, she tried her best to wrap her young mind around these questions. Maybe she needed to go out some more and stop these thugs and goons from bringing in more crime... Who could tell? 'Thinking is evil," she remembered Stasis saying to her once. or was she talking about books? Yes. It was books, because they led to thinking! So, she may as well had said that thinking was evil, too. Amused, Kris stood to go get a venti double mocha latte from the coffeehouse across the street.
