A New Beginning

A new school , new dorm room , new roommates ... everything in her world had been turned upside down and sideways.
She didn't know anyone in this new place. She wasn't even sure if anyone here had noticed her even.
Kali Jade decided the best way to adjust was just to throw herself full force into work . Do as much as she possibly could everyday.
Every morning after she woke up , she would shower , dress , make her bed , eat breakfast and head out the door.
Books in hand , a dozen assignments she had started the day before and some how never completed.
Of course if she'd stop taking those midnight walks that lasted til almost dawn maybe she wouldnt sleep thru half her classes and she might ctually get something done.
Hurrying thru the school hallway enroute to first hour math she sees a flyer on the wall for the Valentines party at Pocket D.
A wishful sigh escapes her lips as she thinks to herself ... " not this year, noone here even knows I am alive."
Kali trudges thru another school day. Class after class , with a lunch period stuck in the middle of the day. Her little corner of the cafeteria , empty and again unnoticed." I will never fit in here " she thinks to herself.
" Hey Kali , how are ya today cutie? " the voice came from no where and Kali jumps with a start. A slight blush crosses her cheeks as she looks up to see Mimi standing with Tawney smiling.
" Hi Mimi , Hi Tawney , I'm ok thanks " Kali replies with a grin.
* Oh my gawd she knows my name* Kali thinks to herself.
Not far behind Mimi is Jaygo with another smile and " Hi Kali hows it going kid?"
* Oh no way those upper classmen know who I am??? How the heck did this happen???* Kali isnt sure if shes flattered or ready to faint now.
" Umm I'm good , I'm sorry but I got to get to class , See ya's later ok" her cheeks flushed and grabbing her books Kali forgets her tray and half runs out of the cafeteria.
* ok that was soooo not cool . Geeesh girl what were you thinking? Why didn't you talk to them? why did you run? Gawd how will I ever manage to have friends if I stammer and run everytime??*
All these thoughts run thru her mind as she hurrys along the hall towards English lit class.
Entering the class room she almost runs into a chair and the teachers voice rings out " Well hello Miss Jade I see You are here awake today.
*ok I cant do this , I need an excuse where can i go*
"Umm Ms. Anapolis ....."
* gawd was that even her name??? I cant remember her friggin name !!*
" I need to run to my locker before the bell rings I'll be right back"
Turning and heading back out much the same way she had entered she stumbles back down the hall and out the doors , running towards her dorm.
Out of breath Kali sneaks hastily into the room she shares with Cricket and November. Tossing her books hap hazardly onto a nearby chair she slinks into a ball on the bed and pulls the covers up over her.
* maybe noone will notice I didn't come back.*
The afternoon fades by and soon she hears Cricket and November chatting away in the room . Not sure what the conversation is about she crawls from the covers and rubs her eyes.
" You cut classes this afternoon Kali? " Cricket asks.
"umm well kinda , I went to some but I came back , I wasnt um feeling well " Kali says trying to make it sound somewhat believable.
Cricket looks at November and with a smirk says " yeah ok"
Both head out to whatever destination it is they had in mind. Not that they would want her tagging along she thinks to herself.
Changing out of her schol uniform , Kali dresses in black pants , her best leather boots and her favorite top.
* I think I'll go check out this Pocket D place and see what its Like *
Running thru Atlas she grabs a train and heads to Kings Row. Entering the club Kali is a little nervous. She hopes it doesnt show too much.
A light tap on her shoulder , and the voice from earlier today...
" Hey kid what are You doing here?"
She turns to see Jaygo , a soft smile forms across her lips and she replies .. " oh not much , just checking it out"
Jaygo calls over a few others to Introduce her to. " Kali this is Simian and Detective, You will probibly see them around from time to time."
Both extend thier hands and give her a warm handshake and welcome.
" Nice to meet you both." she says , here comes that blush again , she feels her face grow warm.
Jaygo chides her a little bit , " You're not shy Kali are you?"
The 4 stand not far from the bar and chat and sway a bit to the music.
And Kali tries hard not to blush again when caught singing along to the words.
The chatter is stopped when another person comes closer.
A few words are exchanged and Kali asks Jaygo , " who was that Jaygo?"
" He's trouble Kali , watch out for that one His names Solomon Abel , just remember he is trouble." Jaygo excuses himself adding " I'm sorry Kali I really need to go I have some business to take care of ."
Kali watches as Jaygo and Simian and Detective all head out.
* well , maybe I should head out too and see what trouble I can run into tonight*
she tells herself and heads out of the club and into the streets of Kings Row .
