The Death of a Star

After tossing his comm away, James had no clue what to do, other than wait for some Rikti. Walking through Atlas, he was searching for something, he didn't know what it was, but he knew it was here. Mind racing, thinking of what happened shortly before, and trying to focus on searching, he wasn't watching where he was going and bumped into someone, he looked like he wasn't from around here.
"'Ey man, watch it." the man said in a heavy southern accent, checking his clothes to see if the flames burned his clothes.
"Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." said James, in an apologetic tone, rubbing the back of his head. "My flames don't burn clothes, if thats what you are looking for." he added, noticing the man checking his clothes.
"Ah, a'right then, I be on my way then." the man replied, trying to hide his southern accent. "'Ey, I'm sorry, I didn't introduce muhself, I'm Devon, Devon Xavier. Do ya happen ta know where I can find the Saint Joseph School? I been searching all evening, but I ain' used to this city-scape. Think ya can 'elp me?" he added shortly after.
"Keep looking, you'll find it eventually." said James, staring blankly at the ground, as he walked off. "And I'm James." he added, raising his voice so the man could hear.

"Alert! Rikti sighted in Atlas Park! All non-combatants please evacuate." sounded the air raid alarm.
"That's my cue," mumbled James to himself. "Rikti smashing time." he added, slightly louder than a whisper.
Walking off, and slowly speeding to a run, James jumped up and was airborne, combing the ground for Rikti, he spots the man he saw before, and some pretty nasty looking Rikti as well.
"Run!" he shouts, but the man doesn't seem to hear. "Devon! Run! R. U. N! DID YOU HEAR ME? RUN!" he shouts remembering his name. "I can hear you!" Devon yells up to James, in a loud, loud booming voice. "I have powers too!" he adds, demonstrating by tossing a Rikti into the air like a ragdoll.
Getting quite angry James decides to pick Devon up and drop him on top of a building, but just as he does so, a rikti starts firing their plasma cannons at him.
"These are nothing like the Rikti that hung out in Founders' Falls, I was beating on the other week." James mumbles to himself.
More Rikti were showing up by the minute, firing their guns at him, with deadly accuracy. One nicked James in the left arm, and another nicked his leg, but one nearly blew off his left hand, but took a few fingers with it.
James still able to control his flight, knew his fear was taking over, started to fly towards the group of Rikti, his powers reacted to his fear, taking control, eating at his sanity, his fire protection started to fade, as his flame seared his skin, his body started to glow, as if about to explode.
Confused, and afraid, all Devon could do was watch, as the mans powers ate him alive. "James!" he shouted, trying to catch his attention, but he was too late, James was exploding.
As James felt the pain, of his arms bursting into flames, he was overwhelmed with the pain of his body being ripped to shreds by his own brute force, he finally knew peace, the peace of death. The death of a star.
