Lackluster Performance?

I know a few of our members have been having issues with the performance on their gaming rigs of late. I've found the guide below to be really useful in helping me get my machine working really well with City of Heroes. You don't have to go to quite the extreme this fellow does, but it certainly wouldn't hurt -- most of the stuff he's suggesting isn't entirely unreasonable, to the best of my knowledge.

thanks Glacial. I'll have to read this later because it's later than anything at the moment, but over the last few issues, i've been having more and more problems with Heroes and lag. "stutter vision" is becoming a daily part of my vocabulary and I hate it. maybe this guy has some tips...

I read through it and he's got some good tips there. I'd also set my virtual memory to 2x-3x my current memory on a seprate drive if you have one. (Ex. If you have 1gb of ram set VM for 2gb-3gb) also if you're running xp go to start-run-msconfig-selective startup and turn off all the fetures you don't need. You can also do this with your services. Also a very little known fact if you have a dial up modem that you don't use uninstall it. 90% of the modems out there are winmodems and use a constant data flow from the cpu even when drivers are not installed. There are a few other things but I'm half asleep and can't remember what he didn't list.
