I can't believe no one has asked this one: why does there seem to be no Senior class? Like, all the students seem to be Juniors or below! What gives?

Interesting question! ;P
Simple answer, too: a few years ago, the Rikti invaded. Maybe you remember. It was in all the papers. Anyway, the school was closed down for a year. Students and staff fought and died and went into hiding and things like that.
But the fact remained that the school was closed. Therefore, no incoming class of new students that year. People got left back, or moved on, or whatever. It was a bad year.
And that's why now, a few years later, there is no senior class just at the moment. The staff has been looking to this year with a kind of dread. No graduation gives people way too much time to think about the tragedy of the recent past.

Actually, I checked his NPC bio. Turns out he's a junior, and I forgot!

The actual answer to your question is that the captain's and first officer's quarters are typically located on opposite sides of the primary hull (the "saucer" section), to minimize the chances of an attack on one quarter of the ship killing both the CO and the XO (assuming they're not both on the bridge at the same time).

Actually that could also be Navy too. It's been standard procedure to have the XO and Capt not in the same area on most 'ships' to minimize the disruption in the chain of command should a ship be struck dating back to the tallships era.
But she still might be a trekkie.

That would be "Trekker" in my case, not "Trekkie", thank you very much.

Mimi:
Can we get the complete backstory on the Wingra Tree?
Mis wants to research it, because Jeremy Wingra really creeps him the hell out for some reason.

It's "nostalgia". You crossed the word with like Natalie Imbruglia or something and got "nestalia" somehow.
