Saint Joseph School

ISSUE ELEVEN UPDATE

In the past few months Mal has slowly and sometimes awkwardly meshing with the student body. There are some students who like to try and make Mal's life a living hell, but they are fewer than he tends to think. He's almost completely licked his stuttering problem, but he's still having some problems with throwing himself into battle as fearlessly as the rest of his classmates. He's also develop slight crushes on several of his female classmates (hint: most of them have white hair like his mother).

Recently, Mal made a huge breakthrough (in his eyes) in his quest to use his powers to negate his weight and do away with the suit. He's now able to completely negate all gravity around him. All this really does for him is let him jump extremely high, but the fact that he's able to keep this null gravity confined to him and only him is a step in the right direction. Also, he's able to control it enough that he can keep the impacts from his jumps from hurting his legs and suit.

Mal is also taking notice and trying to form bonds with his fellow extraterrestrial classmates, notably Nova. He's very suspicious about the CVC, and is half-convinced that they are an anti-alien hate group.

He's also gotten a really dorky haircut.

Fall '08 Update:

Mal has more or less become a regular sight at Saint Joseph's, after nearly a year there. However, he's seemed different recently. He's a lot jumpier and nervous than he used to be (even for him, notorious for being skittish), and he's actually screamed a couple of times when he's been caught by surprise. More importantly, he's restricted his activities to the more "mundane" aspects of SJS life: that is to say, he's not going to be seen on patrol for a while. He's still around school a lot (even more than he used to).

((And by the way, he's only told Alex and Trixie why he's changed.))

On the morning of November 10, Malcolm stopped attending classes at Saint Joseph's. The teachers stopped calling his name on the roll call, and any calls to his cell phone or apartment aren't answered. If asked, the teachers explain that due to a complication in Malcolm's condition, he will have to be studying from his house in the forseeable future.

On November 20, Malcolm returned to class, minus his distinctive suit. He is strangely closed mouthed about what happened to him, explaining it as "finally getting my act together" or something similar.

He also looks strangely taller without it.

Malcolm is entering his senior year at Saint Joseph's. He's done very well for himself, maintaining his good grades and his highly amateurish superhero career. He also helped the Zentaro cousins start their own band, and after a few gigs he's gotten much more confident in his bass playing. His Ivy League ambitions have recently been squelched by a combination of lack of scholarship money, lack of financial aid, and, he suspects, his mother's association with Longbow. He's currently seeking to get into a local state institution.

Malcolm's relationship with Jessica St. Peter is very well known by now, with level of seriousness rumored ranges from "very" to "already married in secret".

Mal is a common site in study hall, doing his best to help anyone he can with their studies. He also is willing to help any student who wants to try their hand at the "hero" gig like he enjoys doing. Overall, he's trying very hard to set a good example to the underclassmen, with varying levels of success.
