Huh?! What is she talk- Oh dear. Maybe you should have thought this through a bit more, Renn my girl... Renn's face paled slightly at Palilla's question, but it was barely noticable for a second before she managed to pull herself back together. She forced a nervous grin at the other girls.
"W-well...I guess I won't know until I've tried, huh?" she leaned over and scooped up a bat from the ground, then paused briefly
"Only...could we have someone besides Eshva pitch the first few times?"

A giggle escaped eshva lips. Flattered and with a slight blush she looked arround. I hope I didn't scare her with those throws. Eshva tossed the ball up and caught it again.
"Who wants to pitch for a bit for Renn! I'm sure I could slow it down too..I haven't picked up the bat yet."
Tossing the ball up and down again she waited for some one to come get the ball

One of the boy who had been practicing catching and throwing out in the outfield turned and trotted in towards the pitcher's mound, pausing only briefly to catch the ball that Eshva lobbed at him.
Renn took a deep breath and stepped up to the plate, trying to remember how she was supposed to stand and hold the bat. Judging from the amused looks of some of the people watching...she wasn't succeeding too well. After a quick bit of direction from the catcher, she called over to the pitcher.
"Okay. I'm ready."
He wound up, and released the ball. Renn's eyes focused with too-perfect clarity on the ball as it rushed towards her. She swung...and connected. The ball flew through the air, but veered far off to the right, past the foul line...and hit the ground just behind the bleachers...
Renn's shoulders slumped and the bat slipped out of her hands, falling to the ground.
How embarassing...but, not bad for a first try, huh?

Paula noded and clapped. The girl had no clue what she was doing and her first batting was a deep foul... Not bad at all! Turning she nodded to the pitcher, and told him to try it again a few more times. The boy shrugged and waited to restart pitching to Renn, while Palilla walked over to the girl, so she could watch her batting form, better.Renn Haven wrote:He wound up, and released the ball. "Hey, chica! Pick dat bat up. We're gonna pitch a few more too joo."
Eshva's eyes went wide as she followed the ball up after Renn gave it a smack with the bat. Wow! Eshva almost fell off the bench she was sitting on.
Turning her head she spotted Nissa walking towards the group. Eshva grined and shouted at Pali
"Hey look! Its nissa! We got another player!"
Anticaption buildt up inside; I can't wait to see what nissa can do! Pali and Renn both rock. Looking at the back catcher Eshva noticed the blue hair. Was that Tristaan?

Pally turned and looked. Sure enough, there was Nissa. She was dressed well enough to play, so, maybe she, Eshy, and Nissa could do the catching and throwing thing, while everyone seemed to settle into their groups. Another aluminum *ping* signalled Renn's contact with a ball. Pally smilled. That girl had an eye. Now to just tweak her betting ability!
"Nissa," she called and waved the elf ofer. "Come on, duendita! We're going to do some catching an' throwing, while we wait for Renn to finish batting, den she gets ta join us, too."

"Wit a glove, chica," Pally said nodding to the stack of gloves by the bench. "Joo know Eshy, but I don tink joo met Renn just jet. Okay? Catching da ball is just as important as throwing it, pitching it, or hitting it. We need good catchers to make sure dat when da other team hits da ball, we can get da ball to base before dey get dere."
She watched the two girls' faces for reactions to see if she would need to explain more. However, over her shoulder, she heard everyone congratulating Renn on her ability to hit the ball.In a way, her gut clenched. Pally was vain about her batting prowess. It pertained to her ability to use the mace. But, she then chastised herself. The team came before the individual, just like family. And, now, these people were her family.

Eric snuck into the bleachers while Renn was at bat. He meant to be here when things started, but he'd lost track of time again while watching television. He tried to follow what he was watching: people catching balls, people throwing balls, people whacking balls with bats. He recognized Eshy, Pally, and Nissa among the persons practicing catch.
He'd watched a baseball game on TV once but didn't really understand it. Glacial thought he might enjoy the game and seemed pretty excited when Eric mentioned it to him, but Eric was still apprehensive. He never seemed to do well with organized sports.

"Okay. Let's do a throwing triangle, okay?"
Eshva let a smile out.
"You bet"
She tossed the ball at Nissa, and Nissa to pali. Pali tosed it far and high for Eshva. Runing backwards She just missed the ball and turned arround to chase it. Her face lit up.
"HEY! Eric!! Come on over!!"
Eshva let a smile out.

Eric smiled uncertainly as he went down to join the girls in response to Eshva's invitation.
"Hey, everybody! I was just watching. It looks like a lot of fun." He looked down and blushed slightly as he kicked the ground absent-mindedly with his foot. "But I'm not very good at catching. Or throwing, unless it doesn't matter where the ball goes."
Looking around, Eric gestured at a comfy looking spot in the grass. "I think I'll just sit over here and watch."
