SJS Global

The SJS global channel is an out-of-character channel for members of the Saint Joseph School and Bloodvine Academy communities. It has two goals.
  • To provide a better place for out-of-character discussion than the Coalition or Supergroup channels. The Coalition and Supergroup channels are intended for in-character dialogue. Some out-of-character dialogue is accepted and even expected, but extensive OOC discussion should be taken to the SJS global or to tells.
  • To facilitate more roleplay and grouping opportunities. Sometimes when you log in, the SG is well-populated and busy. Other times, almost nobody is on. The global allows you to check with people who might be playing alts to see if anybody's up to anything you can join in on--both for roleplay and for missions. On the converse, it also allows you to play an alt without worrying as much that you might miss something fun in SJS or BVA. It also allows players in SJS and BVA to check in with each other to coordinate hero-villain activities.
With these goals in mind, the following guidelines apply to the channel.
  • It is fully out-of-character. You are on the channel with your global, not your current character. Please do not speak in-character, there are other channels for that.
  • It is PG-13. All public channels in our communities are PG-13, and the global is no exception.
  • It is optional. Nobody is required to join the global. Nobody is going to hassle you if you choose not to.
  • Only players who have characters in either SJS or BVA, or both, will be invited to the global channel. The SJS global is a private channel for our communities.
  • Players who used to be members of SJS or BVA and who left the community in good standing may be permitted to remain on the channel on a case-by-case basis.
  • Operator status is limited to those players who have one or more characters in a leadership position in one of the two communities. In SJS, this would be characters who are Student Council or Student Body President. In BVA, this would be characters who are Steering Committee or Student Government. Such players are not required to join the global, but at least three operators will be designated at all times.
In order to join the channel, you have to be invited. If you're having a hard time finding someone to invite you, you can send a tell to any of the channel moderators.

To be added to the @global channel, feel free to contact @extropymine or any member of the SJS Student Council.

We also request that you set up a bind to indicate which school the character you're playing is in. Characters who are not in any of the SJS and BVA supergroups do not need to do this. Here are the example binds.

/bind x beginchat "/send SJS [ $name <SJS> ] "
/bind x beginchat "/send SJS [ $name <SJS Alumni> ] "
/bind x beginchat "/send SJS [ $name <BVA> ] "

Of course, you may include additional information such as your level and archetype as well if you like, and you may bind it to any key of your choosing.
