The Top 10 Things to Know About Life on Campus
- SJS does not teach its students to be superheroes. It teaches students to responsibly control and focus their powers. What the student does with that knowledge is the decision of the student, and the school does not restrict or encourage students to associate with contacts or in-game organizations. Though a bunker exists beneath MECCa that is staffed by FBSA and Longbow that contains medical facilities and teleporters, Saint Joe's does not have a "danger room."
- Saint Joseph School has approximately 300 students. Slightly over half of the school population are NPCs, and many of them are non-combatants. The player characters are not the entire school.
- Whether or not they are represented in-game, there are faculty and staff at SJS and they have authority over your character. You can get grounded, set into a curfew, suspended, or put in detention.
- The comm channels are not monitored 24/7, but they are processed and logged by MEG and can be reviewed or played back if necessary. SJS students are using the school's communication system: you have no "right to privacy" with things you say over the channel, and if the logs were reviewed by the administration, your character would certainly get into trouble for openly discussing drug use or illegal conduct (such as killing). Similarly, the Medevac system tracks students wherever they go. Though it is not meant to be a tracking system, the administration can access those records.
- All students live on campus, with the exception of students whose families live in Paragon City-- those students are free to continue living at home as 'day students.' Boarding students cannot spent the night elsewhere without written parental consent. Day students cannot spend the night on campus without a parental request and the administration's consent.
- Between dinner and breakfast (roughly 7pm to 7am), boys are not permitted to go further into the girls' dorm than the first-floor common room (and vice-versa). Even during the day, a student may not enter the other gender's dorm unless accompanied by a resident of that dorm. Students are not permitted to close their doors when receiving visitors.
- Students are expected to be in their own rooms for curfew at 10pm (midnight on Fridays & Saturdays).
- Students in grades 7, 8, and 9 are expected to take their meals on campus. Students in 10th grade or above may leave campus for meals at their discretion.
- The age at which a teenager can get a drivers' license in Rhode Island is 16. However, students must be both 17 and in 11th grade to have a car on campus, since SJS is not prepared to pave half of campus into parking lots. Also, please note that in the state of Rhode Island, you must be 18 to be able to insure a car, so rich orphans will need to wait.
- Work-study jobs, part-time jobs and volunteer work are fine, but you cannot have a full-time job. Students cannot join Longbow or Vanguard or any other full-time government agency. If your character is on scholarship, you have a work-study job on campus somewhere (cafeteria, cloakroom, etc).
